My most favorite book ever. My ultimate 5-star read. The only book that I have reread at least 3 times. This is one of the most beautifully written autobiographical memoir ever. I heard someone once say: “having a special teacher in your life means absolutely everything”. This book can really prove that to you.

When Japanese books gets translated, I would most likely take a look at a bookstore. Then if i like it, i tend to buy it. I adore this book. It's such a sweet book.

A cute and surprisingly uplifting book that lets you ponder about current education systems and whether or not they are of actual relevance to society in reality.

This book speaks about unity, equality and integrity through differences, set within an atypical school in a society of rigidity and conformity. It's the sort of book we need for a divided world that we live in!

You will not be bored with this book :)

loved this when I was young

Sweet!
Cerita kelakuan Totto-chan emang ada2 aja.
Cerita favoritku hari olahraga! Unik banget!

Healing my inner child yang pernah ketemu orang2 dewasa yg kurang menyenangkan di masa kecil.

This is a profoundly wonderful book. I will be re-reading it and recommending it many times and to many people. It's also incredible how a book written in such short snippets of memory can make you fall so in love with the characters. There's no real continuous narrative, although events are roughly chronological, but this is in no way to it's detriment. I found myself jealous the author could remember with such clarity events from her childhood! Although she certainly had help from her parents and the other wonderful Tomoe alumni. While Totto-chan is absolutely the protagonist, this book reads as a sincere love letter, full of humour, dedicated to the wonderful Sosako Kobayashi, the school's headmaster, who clearly had such a profound love for and understanding of children it affected all those who knew him. This book should be compulsory reading for anyone who wants to teach children, as a professional or as a parent; it truly gets what children care about and what they need in terms of building their emotional resilience and enthusiasm for their interests. It's just brilliant.

Aku takbisa berhenti membaca Totto-chan! Seru sekali!
