I should've checked the CW before reading. Cancer is a too triggering topic for me

Maybe this book would have had more impact if I hadn't read it after [b:Sunrise Over Fallujah|2205226|Sunrise Over Fallujah|Walter Dean Myers|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255741419s/2205226.jpg|2210990], [b:The Ask and the Answer|6043849|The Ask and the Answer (Chaos Walking, #2)|Patrick Ness|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1233015899s/6043849.jpg|6219422], and [b:Stitches A Memoir|6407014|Stitches A Memoir|David Small|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255727610s/6407014.jpg|6595917]. For a book about cancer, I was oddly unaffected by it. It could also be the note format, which normally I like but in this situation it was not a good choice.
This is one of those books that was good, but I'm really happy I didn't buy. It's 220 pages, but most of them have only a line or two on them, which means it's not very substantial and I read it from cover to cover in about 45 minutes.
The entire book is told through notes that a mother and daughter leave for one another - most of them are brief (things like "hey mom, I'm babysitting tonight"), but some are pretty lengthy and get quite emotional/deep. Because of the really choppy writing style, I found it hard to get really invested in the story or into the characters lives. Is it bad? Not at all. Is it something I'd read again or recommend to anyone else? Probably not.

I liked this book's unique format - being written in notes from mother to daughter and vice versa. It was a cool idea and left me as the reader filling on the gaps. The story itself was a heartbreaking.
Great story of the relationship between mother and daughter - the evolution of an illness and the emotion and reactions it causes. All told through notes left on the refrigerator door. Excellent!
Tää oli tavallaan tosi simppeli, mutta jäi kuitenkin mieleen.
Seriously just sped through this in 15 minutes... wow the FEELS!!!! Of course the end made me cry right in the middle of the library, but I'm trying to keep it together.
I think I would have liked this book just a teensy bit better if there would have been snippets of the real story between the post-its every so often.
Even still it was a super emotional read for such little text at some points.
