DNF at page 179. It reads more like a collection of influencer-y instagram captions rather than a memoir. The first half was somehow more compelling… by the second half it just seemed to me that she wanted back pats for Doing Parenting, which I found tedious.

Lots of emotions packed into the book in a very loving and heart-warming way. Doyle's story is really empowering for those who are still trying to discover their own sexuality and identity. Worth the read.

I got 35 pages into this novel and realized life is too short to read books I don't like.

I heard amazing things about this book and had high expectations – I wanted to learn, to feel seen, and to relate to this novel, but unfortunately for me it fell very flat from page one. The voice of Doyle is such a white feminist voice that takes itself very seriously (ie I was not getting any substance from it, it was all earnestly stated cliched metaphors). For me, there wasn't anything groundbreaking in this book and I stopped because I expected it to read the same way throughout.
