77.5/100

Satisfying enough way to conclude the series, albeit seems strange in relation to the past few volumes. Backstory retellings are always interesting to me, and I liked seeing some other villains, but overall I didn’t love the art, and the stories didn’t feel quite “comprehensive”.

Issue 51, which caps off Snyder and Capullo's run on the main Batman title, ROCKS as an epilogue, but the rest of the book is filled with random issues that didn't make the cut into other volumes. In other words, this volume is like Batman Vol 6: Graveyard Shift, but the quality of the individual stories just isn't as good. Unless you want to collect everything, give this book a pass and buy the digital version of issue 51 from DC Comics' app. You'll save yourself a lot of time and money.

And so Scott Snyder brings this chapter of the Batman story to a close — and goes out with one hell of a bang.
Well, several.
We have the lost Bruce Wayne returning, Arkham lunatics taking over, a throw-back to Bruce's childhood and a beautiful look at Gotham.
It really has everything.
And, as with the rest of Snyder's run, the artwork is stunning, the stories gripping and the action pretty-much non-stop.
Why couldn't all of the New52 reboots been this good?

Mixed collection with a few good issues and a few okay ones.

Definitely a bummer considering how good a majority of this run was. I didn't find any of the issues to be that good, except the Rebirth issue they included but even that wasn't enough to save this volume. Also, I think mind was printed with the hardcover boards upside down and backwards so that's a lil disappointing.

The name of this volume is a bit misleading as this is a collection of unrelated Batman shorts taking place during various time periods (including an alternative future story at the beginning) of the Batman comics. The first one I could have skipped as I'm not much of a fan of the alternative future stuff but I enjoyed the rest of this volume, especially the "Gotham Is" issue.

Just a random collection of issues that didn't make it into previous volumes. None are interesting, except for maybe the Wayne Manor invasion issue. But as a final chapter to Snyder's run, it's a letdown. Really, I haven't found too much to love since the Zero Year story. The Court of Owls, Death of the Family and Zero Year are all great, but the back half of Snyder's run left something to be desired.
Time to move on, I suppose.

Closes off very well and has the best batsuit

This smorgasbord of stories range from excellent to just ok. The Futures End story was intriguing, but without context it was unsatisfying. The stories from Batman 51-52 tied up some loose ends and reset some key ingredients prior to Rebirth (for example, Alfred gets a new hand in an almost throwaway manner in just a couple of panels), but weren't particularly otherwise notable. The story from Batman Annual 4 was probably the best story, revealing a bit about young Bruce Wayne's training journey and what motivates him. The Rebirth story had an interesting take on Calendar Man, but was really just out of place in this volume. Even for Batman completists, this volume is pretty inconsequential. The artwork by Greg Capullo is outstanding as usual, and I also enjoyed Riley Rossmo's art on "The List."

Fine, but completely unnecessary.
