this book combines storytelling and reflection on creativity that is powerful for artists and writers alike. I've read it 3 or 4 times now and I love it every time.

A delightfully written self-help book for creative minds (that’s everyone by the way). This book came into my life right when I needed it.
In a world where it’s so easy to let ego get in the way and dwell on failure or “but what will people think??” Elizabeth Gilbert masterfully and conversationally gives you permission to just enjoy creating.
Give yourself permission to recognize the big magic of creativity. Read this book if you’re struggling to know how to do that. ;)
Recommended for 18 and up.

Nothing you couldn't have thought up yourself, but we need to hear it from someone else, sometimes. I'd recommend this as validation therapy for anyone who is attempting to do something creative on a scale that's a little bit scary.

The way I would describe this book to someone who doesn't know Eat, Pray, Love is that the book is written like you're having a conversation with someone who's a bit under the influence of something.
I randomly picked this book up at a thrift store, thinking that this book was some random self-help and wanted to try something different. What I failed to realize is this book is geared towards "unlocking" your creative mind, which isn't a field that I'm heavily in but could parallel path this as a hobby of some sort
For me, the only useful section would be the Persistence chapter. I do agree that something should not be a passion, but to have a curious mindset that helps unlock unknowns that you may not know, which could lead you down a rabbit hole, taking you to somewhere different that you didn't think of. (A great example is when I'm having trouble with figuring out how to logically put a formula for Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel, I do something outside of my work and the answer comes to me while I'm not thinking about work.)
Honestly, I would pass on the book if it wasn't short enough and the writing style wasn't casual. Not a bad book, but I didn't think there was anything life-changing that would help me with my current journey in life.

promising title, and she delivers! I'm heading off to pick back up my paintbrushes now...
Not exactly nuanced writing, but I enjoyed the points made and took a lot away from the book in general.
