This book was a slow burn but the end was so worth it - so many twists! Very thought-provoking and very sad. I will definitely read the sequel.

I didn’t find it all that compelling, and surprisingly didn’t find the period to be all that detailed in portrayal. You would think the Amsterdam 1600s would be compelling, but it just seemed like a scaffold. And the story fell flat.
