Have to say, it was a bit confusing at first. But once I set myself up to read it properly, I got it and it got GOOD! The whole butterface thing used to bother me, a lot, but this book made it ok. Gina is that girl, the one that everyone loves to be friends with, but not one man was in love with her. Until, the KissCam at the wedding! When sparks fly for the wedding planner, you know things are going to be funny, whitty and laughable! Throw in some low level mobster brothers and a hot-AF cop and the book just gets going and going until you realize it is over. WHAT???? Knowing that this is a series and we will get more from Gina and Ford in the coming books is great. Frankie and Lucy are up next, cannot wait!

This is one of the rare times that I DNF a book. I’m talking rare- I always force myself to read books I may not be into and look at it objectively. So I started reading it and as the synopsis would suggest it’s a story about an “ugly ducking” who falls in love. So I’m reading it and I’m thinking, man this woman hates herself, from the get go. Then I was like, oh, this must be one of those books where the girl finally finds herself beautiful after the boy tells her. Which is not my jam per se but I could have rolled with it. I figured, maybe she was an ugly ducking and was so traumatized by bullying that she couldn’t see the beauty that she grew into. Nope. None of those things. Everyone thinks she is ugly and everyone- mostly herself- treats/ acts like she is some nasty creature. So I couldn’t get into it. Nobody needs to be perfect looking- there are ways to write about “non-perfect” looking woman and make them sound beautiful even if the world wouldn’t consider them that way.
This just makes me sad that a woman would write this about a woman. We are all beautiful in our own ways, big noses, big eyes, small eyes, small noses, thick or thin.
So maybe this is an enchanting read but I just can’t get on board.

Gina is not the most beautiful woman on earth, and she knows it—after all, she's been made fun of since she was a child. However, she has learnt to ignore the whispers and the mocking, and she now works as a wedding planner. Ford is the black sheep of his family. A cop when his family has been firefighters for generations, he couldn't ignore his sense of justice so he decided to make people respect the law. When the two meet at a wedding, it's instant attraction, but although Gina has grown up, people still enjoy making fun of her, and the night ends with her leaving the venue running.
But the two are not done. When Gina finds the body of her grandfather while renovating her house, It's Ford that answers the call and decides to get close and "protect" her. If then he can get a little bit of intel about the criminal activities of Gina's brothers, that will really help his department. However, the attraction that Ford feels for Gina is real, and he can't pretend for long.
It's really a cute story, and I hurt for Gina. She didn't deserve of that bullying. I'm really happy that she found a man who loves her for who she is and accepts her all the way.

I liked the book, it was good not great not terrible.
Things I didn’t like, how we are constantly reminded that the main character is “ugly”, “unattractive”, or “hard to look at”, it also rubbed me the wrong way that the love interest describes her as “someone who wouldn’t be winning any beauty pageants anytime soon.” Ick. I mean I think the title made that very clear she wasn’t attractive no need to pound it into our brains at every point in the story.
Things I did like, their relationship with each other their interactions when alone, the conversations, banter. The forbidden dynamic of their relationship, the detective and daughter of a criminal family. He’s also thoughtful and protective of her.

Just like it says, a hot rom com. I picture Gina like Mona-Lisa from Parks and Rec.
