Absolutely loved this story!! Such a great message with lots of love drama plus a great amount of spice
This was so much better than I expected it to be! I thought it was a little exaggerated how ugly everyone thought Gina was, but I'd prefer that over her THINKING she's ugly while everyone else thinks she's gorgeous. Very good read.

So the good news is - I finished this book in a day. It's simple writing and not particularly long, so it's a nice beach read. But when all is said and done - the book was just okay. My main problem with it was that it just wasn't believable at all. Not the whole ugly girl gets good looking guy - that does actually happen. But no self-respecting adult makes the kind of comments about a woman they don't know or even one they do, that literally almost EVERY adult makes in this book. I'm sorry, but no. A few - sure. There's some jerks out there. Maybe some drunken idiots might do it. But everyone? Dude, people have their own lives. They don't waste their time commenting on how ugly someone is because they have a big nose. No one cares! People have their own insecurities to deal with.
Without going into details, I wish they'd focused more heavily on how her insecurities stemmed from her really bad youthful experience (which honestly, totally fair, that was humiliating), and maybe ONE or TWO (no more!) comments she heard while trying to date someone sexy. Like, the women in the bathroom - that was jealousy and something I could see. Then we could see her overcome that, and realize that when you're a grown up, people focus on personality a lot more than they do as teenagers. And that she's a smart, successful woman who deserves love the same as anyone else.
But that didn't happen. Add that on top of the overly graphic (yet somehow still boring) sex scenes and thoughts (seriously, does anyone think that graphically for that long?), and 2 stars it is. I did see a little snippet for the next book - Muffin Top. Now that I could see happening - probably because I've experienced something similar. So I might pick that up. I have a feeling I won't like it any more than this one but what can I say? I'm nothing if not uncontrollably curious.

I'm a big fan of the "not so beautiful"people getting their HEA. Real people need love too. Butterface is sweet and cute. Filled with self deprecating humor and mean jokes from trolls, Butterface has its ups and downs.
Learning to love ones self is hard and Gina has a long way to go. With a little help from Officer Never Breaks the Rules, or Detective Hartigan, Gina is going to learn a lot about herself.
Personally, I'm not sure romantic comedy is the right way to describe this book. I thought it had amusing points but I wasn't laughing as much as I expected to.

Gina is a wedding planner, and Ford is a detective - pretty standard rom-com fare. Her family is involved with the Mafia, and Ford is investigating. He becomes involved with Gina when she finds a body in her attic. It really is a pretty typical romance, so I should like it more, right?
Wrong. First of all, I found out the meaning of Butterface (I had no idea). Gina has a big nose, but the author repeatedly points out how ugly Gina is. I found that distasteful. I get it. But Ford didn't seem to see it as an issue, so while keep hammering on it.
My bigger issue was that Gina seemed a bit desperate and dumb. Ford tells her he must move in with her to protect her from possible murderers, even though the body in her attic died over ten years before. There were other examples where Gina just seems to accept improbable events, even though she's smart enough to run her own successful business. So, this was mostly a fail for me.

Sweet fun listen! Excellent Narration by Savannah Peachwood & Brian Pallino.
