This story was my first contemporary in quite a while. Overall I liked it. Stars got knocked for me for lack of build up of tension (first few chapters were good, then fizzled) and lack of character depth, mainly for the hero. I would have liked to have spent more time in the hero’s head. The author also took development opportunities and completely missed them by saying vague statements like “they shared stories all night of their childhood”.
I did love their families. I loved the sex.
I thought the beat down on the heroines looks were a little overplayed (I get it, Butterface, but I felt like it was still high school). I would have liked to have seen the heroine get some confidence. I also thought the plot was pretty predictable, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Just with all the other things it made the book only 3 stars for me.

Cuuuuute! Really enjoyable start to the series. Onto book 2!
This book was an easy light read. It was a bit of an odd mixture with the whole mob brothers as like the main story arc but not. I will also point out the names were annoying (no idea why)
I liked that this focused on the self confidence issues and that Ford helped ease those for Gina. Ford was an okay characters. I will say I got bit confused around the siblings of Ford and didn’t find it clear where they fell in the line up.
I’m excited to go back and read Hudson’s story though

This was my first Avery Flynn book and I’m so glad I got a chance to read this before its release.
Butterface was so funny, sweet, steamy, sexy, adventurous, with a little bit of drama and action.
You have Gina who her entire life has been bullied and ridiculed because of her looks. She has a nice body, but according to her, her face doesn’t match, which is why everyone used to call her Butterface.
Ford is a man that comes from a family full of firefighters. It was pretty much expected of him to follow along the same path. When he didn’t do that and decided to become a cop, it caused a lot of issues with him and his family.
Both these characters are outcasts in their own family. Gina wants no relations to her family’s ties to the mob and decides to make a name for herself as an event planner. Ford went against his family and decided to become a cop. In a way, they’re sort of kindred spirits.
When word gets out at the precinct that Gina has family ties to the mob the task force in trying to take down, Ford is asked to infiltrate her life to gather intel.
In an effort to make things as believable as possible, Ford tells Gina that her life is in danger and he wants to stay with her and protect her, and also help around her house renovations that she seems to never get finished.
That’s where the story really starts, well after that delicious yet hilarious and awkward kiss cam scene. Where these two get to really know one another and slowly fall.
I loved Gina and Ford. Their chemistry was SO HOT! And their special moments so, so sweet.
I like that this book shows us that we shouldnt view ourselves the way others wish to. Just because we don’t like the societal norm, doesn’t mean we aren’t beautiful, too.
I can’t wait to see what else Ms. Flynn will give us with The Hartigan series. I’m excited for more!

I assumed my review on audible would transfer here, but nope lol
Anyway, I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure I would since I'd never listened to a double narration before, but this turned out much better than I expected. It was super cute and fun to listen to while I worked, and I'm glad I was alone for some of those sex scenes because I was definitely making my own commentary and cheering them on (LOL).

Such a cute book! Totally not what I expected though, but in the best way possible! I'm excited to continue this series soon!
I recently read this series and I have to say I was quite disappointed in the whole series. This was a great idea, I love the ideas for body positivity however this author failed at the execution. This book was mostly body shaming with very little positivity or true turn around. The love stories were cute but even they were all about body shaming and not in any way that is helpful to turning a new leaf.
3/5
I saw this book around Facebook and decided it looked good and to give it a try. It wasn’t bad, but it also didn’t suck me in and make me want to finish it. If I really like a book I will finish it in less than 36 hours, but this book took me a few days.
I don’t even know if I know what about the book made me so neutral about it, I just am.
They were both good characters, but they weren’t great. I felt as though some things were left unexplained or were impertinent to the book.
I just didn’t love it. But I am planning to read the rest of the series, though I will not be anxiously awaiting their arrivals.

It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't great either; HOWEVER I'm picky when it comes to romance so if you haven't read it give it a shot, you might love it.
This book was kind of all over the place; the characters were ok, the character development was minimal, the storyline was a bit confusing, the writing style wasn't my favourite.
I picked up this book because I thought it had potential for a good romance, but I was left disappointed; I just didn't really vibe with it.
