3.4 AVERAGE

Not as good as the teaser made it out to be. It was kind of depressing how Gina was always putting herself down. I know it was due to all the horrible bullying she dealt with when she was younger but still. I can only take so much of someone's bad self esteem, which she never really gets over.

Didn’t love this one. The guy lied, she takes him back. The girl lied, he takes her back. It was a never ending cycle of them not communicating enough and white lies or omissions on the truth (about things like looks), still cute but not my favourite
lighthearted medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: N/A
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Overall a cute read, the plot is good and I liked the climax. Will try other books from this author

I really like Avery Flynn's writing, but this was a little harder to listen to, I think because having a main character who is described at worst...ugly, or at best, not traditionally beautiful, is hard because it is just so unusual. If you think about the psychological toll of being told every day that you aren't beautiful, geez, that would just kill your spirit.

3.5 stars. Fun and quick read! I really enjoyed the story and would have rated four stars but felt as if some things were not really resolved. Looking forward to the other books in the series!

3.5-4 stars

This was a light, funny read with real issues underpinning. One of my US friends explained to me that the title referred to 'but her face' which isn't really a thing in the UK. I loved how this issue was handled in the book and although Ford, the hero didn't always handle it perfectly, he got there in the end. Whilst the book didn't blow me away, it was pleasant and I will definitely be reading more in the series.

I quite enjoyed the two books in the Last Man Standing series by Flynn. Butterface is the first in the Hartigans series, which focuses on family members who appeared in that series. Unfortunately this one didn't work quite so well for me.

First off, I really liked Gina our heroine. She's had to put up with alot of snide comments about her looks all her life and I really sympathised with her. I admire that she has built up her own wedding planner business and I wish that she didn't have to deal with the assholes of this world when it comes to her looks. Unfortunately she does, and I hated that for her character.

The book went in a predictable direction. Ford is a cop who is undercover, and you know its gonna come out eventually, which it does. I really hated how it did, and how Gina's looks come up again. It was totally unnecessary.

Usually in a romance, I am rooting for the couple and their HEA, but honestly? Ford didn't deserve her in the slightest. I didn't like how their story ended at all.

I'm giving this 2 stars because I liked Gina and I'll continue with the series, because I want backstories for other characters I've met in other books. I know the author can write entertaining and heartfelt romances. But for me, this just wasn't one of them.
