Death is Nature's remedy for all things, and why not Legislation's?

Dickens. De man gebruikt graag veel woorden.

And the clock struck the numbers he would never hear again. Nine gone for ever, ten gone for ever, eleven gone for ever, twelve coming to pass away. [...]
"There is but another now," and [he] turned to walk again.

I was very engaged at the start but as the drama grew and number of characters and locations free I lost track of the plot and got distracted.

I appreciated the revolutionary thoughts and ideals but got a little sad at the sacrificial approach to solutions, sad yet maybe necessary in the times of the French revolution, do that was sad. So the messages were inquiring but the relationships a bit old fashioned and had to keep interest in, for me

I read this book in high school and really enjoyed it. I then wrote an essay on it for my AP English class, using it and a few other classics I'd read as examples of the way a lot of female characters were written by men back then (Les Miserables being another that comes to mind)... they were usually put on pedestals and elevated to perfect, angel status. They were loved because they were beautiful, and were always completely guileless and it bothered me that they never showed any kind of flaw or personality.
And then another person in my class (a boy, of course) did not like my essay, and argued that this was just my opinion. Well, duh.

I need to read this book again. One of the better ones by Dickens, in my opinion.

I listened to the audiobook and legitimately have no idea what happened in the portion I did read. It was all just so boring and bland.

I just listened to this book and I didn‘t really understand it. Because I thought it quite boring I couldn‘t really concentrate on it. I just give up now, on audio books and classic books.

I had trouble keeping track of characters. It’s also hard to buy a guy loves a woman when you have to remember one conversation from pages and pages ago. Only last hundred pages is really quick moving.

So incredibly slow and boring. But of course I can't give Dickens only one star because I do appreciate his use of literary devices and themes.

I'll come back to it. Tried to do the audiobook but I just prefer to actually read Dickens with my eyes.
