the main character is 15 years old and this book is about her boy problems.

had i been 18 or younger, i would have related and this book would have been great. it just seemed very trivial to me now, and i finished it so it would be a finished book for booktubeathon

I remember when I read this book in high school. It brings back funny memories, I read it probably over 10 times. I really enjoy and recommend this book to teen girls.

One of my all time favourite books ever. I lost my copy a while ago and am desperate for a replacement.

3.5-I’m somewhat mixed on this book. I love the way this is book is written, it is funny and Ruby is a great character, I want to know more about her and where she ends up. Ruby is figuring out what life is about, and Lockhart does a great job of being honest about how hard that can sometimes be. At the same time, it made me sad to watch Ruby go through everything that happened to her, there were several cringe-inducing moments for me.

This is a realistic description of what many teenage girls go through, but I found it very hard to relate. That these girls would allow themselves to be so compromised and lose friendships (albeit not very healthy ones) over guys who are total assholes is depressing to me. I felt (and appreciated) that the author acknowledged that point thoughtfully though. I liked that we see Ruby starting to figure things out in the end as she starts to feel better about herself.

Cheating/boyswapping-drama stories are not usually my favorite, but I think Lockhart handles the scenario as well as it can be.

I needed Roo in my life right about now. Having recently moved to a new town where I really know very few people, I have been having minor existential crises involving friendship. I am a very social person, and suddenly moving to a town where I know NO ONE has dredged up some old memories of times I've lost friends in the past, and made me think a lot about what exactly it means to be friends with someone, as well as HOW to make new friends.

Ruby may be in high school, but she is a smart, thoughtful character who deals with her problems in ways I only wish I could. She's flawed, but she is learning to deal with how it feels to lose a friend -- something I feel like I've never really been able to fully cope with.

Ruby is also hilarious, and awesome, and smart, and I want to be friends with her even though some of the actions she takes are probably not always the best ones. I'm not a huge "chick lit" reader, but this is exactly the kind of girlbook I want. A girl who is a real person, all her friends are real, fully developed people, hilarious dialogue mixed with real life crises -- everything. This book gets five stars from me for being the right book for me at the right time. I'm excited to read the sequel :)

Hilarious! After I read this book, I made it my goal to read anything I possibly could by E. Lockhart to see if they were all this good. She did a great job of writing it and piecing it all together. If you like humor and a small bit of romance, this is the book for you!

One of my favorite books. I read it for the first time when I was 15, Ruby is my soul sister and ten years later I still love her. Down with slutty vampire girls!
