This book keeps you on the edge the whole way through. So MUCH happens! It’s bittersweet, heartbreaking, and leaves you reflecting after it’s over. While it wasn’t perfect, there were some sections that dragged on, the overall experience was so satisfying. People who died in previous books aren’t just forgotten, they’re spoken about and you can see the impact they’ve left. I like that they’re still remembered.
My girl Helene, just could not catch a break! My heart broke for her again and again. I’m happy she seems to be healing towards the end. I’m also happy that she found a friend in Laia and Musa. Harper dying, NO! The twist at the end with who killed Keris, ohh, I did not see that coming! I’m glad Cook was able to find some peace and be a mother to Laia and give Elias his freedom.
Loyal to the end.

You need to understand that when I say I sobbed, I mean that I sobbed uncontrollably for different reasons and multiple times and my entire pillow is wet with my tears.
FFS, Tahir. Honestly.

Did I cry? Yes. Did I get everything I wanted to end this series? Not necessarily. It was still a great wrap up of all the characters. It was getting a little long winded on the whole "bring down the Nightbringer" plot in this whole series. The Theme of Love driving all the stories also got a little annoying but in the end, still a great message and was sweet. I really enjoyed the stories and the attachments built for the characters.

I am truly unable to construct a review that adequately depicts the absolute awe this series has left me with. As an avid reader I often opt for series, and just as often I’m left feeling unsatisfied by book two. By book three and skies forbid book four, I’ve grown resentful of the characters and tired of the plot.
When I first started this series I went in with certain expectations and was completely blown away. While I’ve seen people talk about this series it’s not nearly as hyped up as it should be. These books completely transformed my life. It altered the way I think not only about how easily we’re able to submit to ignorance and brutality when it benefits us but, also about the complexities of emotions.
I typically say in all my reviews of books I enjoyed that they have carved themselves onto my soul. The same can’t be said for this series, for I left a part of my soul between the pages of each book. Buried deep in the Empire, in the Waiting place, in Nur under the soft glow of the moons light off of splintered mirror, with each and every character. I am altered and I am not okay.
P.S: Harper and Darin’s fate killed me. I had my suspicions about Avitas but when Darin died I was actually shocked. I’m still processing but it was both poetic and devastating all at once.
