No criticism allowed. This was purely for the vibes.
And what can i say? Bella is a literal icon that should have not been tampered with for the movies.
Obsessed. Again. Forever.

It’s a skill to make the protagonist so frustrating and idiotic, even for a teenager

It progressively got worse throughout the book—it actually started off very decent

I can’t believe that the baseball scene didn’t happen until pg. 300. Also I’m team Edward rn bc Jacob was in this book like 3 times only.

I feel like the main characters were remarkably underdeveloped. The pacing of the book also felt a bet off but overall a readable book.

Twilight gets three stars for nostalgia and for a straightforward yet satisfying story.

Twilight gets one star for the grotesque amounts of misogyny, and downright abuse that practically drips off each page once Bella and Edward become a thing. How many times do we read about him picking her up against her will? Forcing her in and out of cars? Forcing her to do anything?

I'm relieved that Bella gets angry and speaks up A COUPLE OF TIMES. But mostly, she just goes with it. Actually, she suffers the abuse then swoons over how perfect and angelic Edward is. It's very clear by the end of the book she is co-dependent on Edward and its gross. There is no denying this relationship is toxic and is not a good example to young people about what love should look like. Cringe galore.

ALL of that being said, I STILL found this to be less painful to revisit than picking up Fourth Wing to try again. Double barf.

I was really surprised at how much I got into this book. I am not into vampires at all, but I couldn't put this book down! I was continually wondering what was going to happen to Bella and Edward. I can't wait to read the next 2.
