i would say i’m usually pretty easy to please, but this book just didn’t do it for me. the only reason it’s getting 2 stars, instead of one, is because it was at least a fairly fast and simple read. so absolutely nothing substantial happens for over 100 pages (which is like 50% of the book) and than EVERYTHING and i mean everything is haphazardly shoved into the last 100 pages. this book felt like reading something that was half finished?? and for a thriller/horror it had the most unsatisfying ending. overall not a huge fan, but i think if you like horror/thrillers you should give it a shot, maybe it just wasn’t for me?
Halfway and its just them arguing and hating everything. Not nearly eerie, creepy or anything of that sort enough to keep me going through two friends just hating existance in the middle of the woods.

The book was good but not great. There were some aspects of the book I really enjoyed like both the girls’ having secretly replaced their broken friendship ring and that ring being the way to help save them. And the fact that they both were thinking the same thing - that they were sorry they told the man about the other and their name. I liked the twist of their being two men instead of one which I didn’t see coming. And I liked the bear at the end. It showed that both of the girls’ fears were valid.
I wish we would’ve gotten a little more foreshadowing that something bad was going to happen than we did, just a bit more build up would’ve been nice.
The first 100 pages felt really slow pacing and some of it was boring and I stuck it out to see if the book was worth it in the end, and I think it picked up and I really enjoyed it. I just wish the first half of the book would’ve had a bit more to it.
I would’ve liked to see what happened in the end like in an epilogue, have the girls have a moment together of apology and know for sure what happened to the men, maybe discover more of their victims.
Overall, I still had fun with the book and enjoyed it.

this was pretty good but i was dying for more character motivations for neena and josie. we got to see a bit of neenas background/motivation but josie is sort of blah overall. a third of the book is literally just them arguing. i was DYING for some good moments with them - i can’t see why they were even friends in the first place other than them both being loners.
but the book creeped me out and thats what i like

I mean...just no thanks. This was only seven hours as an audiobook but it was a very long seven hours. There were way too many bizarre thesaurus-inspired word choices, and the long rambling descriptions were largely just filler. And that's before all the plot issues. I waited through 3.5 hours to get to the plot point that I'd expected since about the first forty-five minutes. The killers are painfully hackneyed and there's no twists here to redeem that.
I was surprised to have something like this show up after There's Someone Inside Your House, but I also know that I was a little generous to that one, haha. Oh well.
