***I was gifted with an ARC of this book for my honest review***

A Kiss by the Book really takes you into the reality of what is unplanned can happen. Although it happened in a weird way but it shows you that how its so true what they say... "you may have a plan but life has another plan for you as well"

In this case life kind of decided to hey I'm gonna do my own thing and bring the pain. Thats the best way to describe it. But things really do happen the way they should and when one door closes another opens. This was such an awesome read. I know there is a prequel to this book and I would like to pick it up and read it so I will be purchasing. Its nice being able to really get the whole story. Thank you for allowing me to read this it was such an awesome and great read!

If you read my review of A Kiss By Design you know that I was NOT a fan of Zach. Being able to read his side of the story was very helpful in changing my opinion. He isn't really a bad guy but I still think that when it came to his relationship with Emily he was very selfish and pretty naive. While I don't condone cheating I had a hard time with how Zach made Emily and Dylan out to be the bad guys in the whole. My biggest irriation stems from the fact that he thought that he was SO fantastic and wonderful that, even though he knew Dylan was in love with Emily since way back in high school and was always there to comfort her, Emily would just always be there for him to support him and his football career no matter what.
I get it, that was sort of the point, that he and Emily had a relationship based on all the wrong things. I also know that he realized this but he still continuously seemed to put all of the blame off on Emily and Dylan. Then Jenna started to do the same thing. P.S. You guys kissed while he was still dating Emily but I guess that doesn't count against you? That was my least favorite part of their story. I think I still just have a lot of love for Emily and Dylan. Haha.
I did love that Jenna gave Zach a hard time and that she didn't treat him like he was some sort of god. I LOVE that she never went out of her way to dress up and "make herself pretty" just to tutor him. She was exactly what Zach needed without either of them knowing at the time. It was good to see another side of Zach in this book. He tends to come across as a cocky, selfish jock but in reality he is so much more than that. He doesn't like to party and he cares about getting good grades, he hopes for a future in football but is realistic that it might not be in the stars for him so he isn't banking on that alone. I think it showed a great maturity for him to put the responsibility of deciding the outcome of their relationship on Jenna. He didn't want her coming to him because she felt sorry for him or obligated but because she wanted to be with him. It was important that their relationship was decided based on their feelings without outside interference.
It was great to see Zach and Jenna get their HEA. I'm just hoping we get to see little brother Nick grow out of his pervert stage and into his own relationship in the next book, if there is one? A reconciliation between Dylan and Zach would be a welcome surprise in a 3rd book as well. :)

I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review, this does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review in any way.

I'm going to start this review off by saying that I was a HUGE fan A Kiss by Design, and when I say that I mean it kick-started a new adult college awkward relationship binge. I was team Dylan and Emily, I didn't think much to Zach, he seemed very self-absorbed and not a good boyfriend. I suppose that makes it rather awkward when the second book in the series is following Zach and Jenna's relationship.

The book kick's off with the breakup of Zach and Emily, it overlaps with A Kiss by Design, showing us Zach's perspective on how things went down. Definitely a very clever idea of Christy Hayes, seeing it from Zach's side made me warm to him immediately, although I did still prefer Dylan and Emily.

Zach is the star quarterback at his uni, he's great in school but feels that he needs support with Statistics. Enter Jenna, his tutor. We briefly met her in A Kiss By Design when Zach launches himself at her in Emily's kitchen. I liked Jenna, although in my opinion she got a bit too involved in the Emily/Dylan/Zach situation. That leads onto my next point, it felt like Zach did not stop bitching and moaning about Emily. I liked her in the first book, so that didn't sit well with me. Obviously being dumped for your younger brother is going to hurt, but he actually acknowledges that they weren't working out that well!

If I cast aside the moaning about Emily and Dylan, Zach is actually a pretty nice guy. A Kiss by the Book changed my opinion of Zach, turns out he's caring and compassionate, he just needed the right girl.

That girl turned out to be Jenna, she's intelligent and hard working, she also has a family past that involves football. She held this information back from Zach, and nearly ruined everything. I'm not sure I understood her reasoning behind this, but hey-ho it is how it is. Christy Hayes paired two people together that didn't sound like they'd aesthetically fit together, Zach is a blonde god-type, while Jenna fits more into the realm of the small brunette with a boyish figure. By doing this Hayes illustrated that Zach's a lot deeper than some might think, he doesn't just care about appearances, and I liked that.

Christy definitely delivered once again with A Kiss by the Book, I'm not sure if there's going to be anymore books in the series, but if there is you can count me in!

I was quite skeptical about reading this book before the first, but I'm glad I did though. It was such a cute, easy new adult book to read. It was charming and witty and all because of Jenna.

Characters:
Zach is the star player on his football team and everything is going perfect in his life. Well, except for the fact that is girlfriend just dumped him for his brother. So he calls the only girl who is there for him- his tutor Jenna. Jenna tutors Zach and other athletes at the University. But soon Jenna finds herself finding out that there is much more than this perfect player that Zach is. Their friendship blooms as it turns into something more. Much more than they both expeceted. I loved Jenna's character; she was funny, charming, but had her quirks.

Final Thoughts: This was an easy read that is perfect for those.wanting something witty, charming, sexy and cute.

"A Kiss by the Book" is the second book in Christy Hayes' "Kiss and Tell" series. It's a new adult romance surrounding Zach, an all star college football player, who gets dumped by his girlfriend for his dorkier younger brother. I loved the first book in the series so even though I didn't like Zach in the first book (he acts sort of terrible), I was willing to give this book a shot. I love when an author can surprise me and Hayes definitely delivers a surprise - I actually really loved Zach in this book. I loved how Hayes was able to change my whole perspective!

Even though this is the second book in the series, this book would work fine as a standalone. That being said, if you do want to read this book, I would go back and read the first book. It's a great love story and reading "A Kiss by the Book" first will take away some of the elements of surprise if you go back and read the first book. It is definitely best to read in order but if you don't, you will understand this book just fine.

I love when authors are able to make me feel different emotions about a character. As I mentioned, I really did not like Zach in the first book. My feelings totally changed when I saw how he really fell for Jenna, who is only supposed to be his tutor. Zach ended up being a pretty nice guy who really tugged on my heartstrings. It definitely made for a much more interesting story for Zach to be much more than he appeared in the first book. Jenna was a really good character as well. I liked that she was allowed to be smart. It seems like there is an over-abundance of dumb girls in romances and new adult books sometimes.

This book was really cute and I am looking forward to more releases by Christy Hayes!
