4.5. I thought the writers did really well building a narrative that illustrates the mind f*** that happens after long term emotional abuse/manipulation, especially when it what ends it is a massive “WTF?!” moment. The over-questioning of everything that ensues or incorrectly viewing something the wrong way because you know that you didn’t notice/acknowledge the crap that was handed out before, is completely understandable. That being said, the chapter with Nick’s parents seemed very unrealistic—and that’s where the .5 was lost.

The book's a good read, with easy writing and dialogues that are very realistic! One could also think that the plot is very similar to fanfiction, however with the way the author's have written the book that doesn't seem like a bad thing at all!

Easy read and enjoyable. Did drag on a bit at points before kind of snowballing to a close.

It started off good and then there was a surprise every other chapter and then none of those surprises amounted to anything and also she was mean to Nick who was just trying to be a sweetpea

What a fucking rollercoaster. Literally nothing was wrapped up well and there was a lot of random filler plot

I have mixed feelings about this book. The first half was great - funny, relatable, and a really interesting plot. It has all the makings of a 5 star classic chick lit novel. But then it sort of falls into trite steamy romance and then the writers decide to quickly wrap everything up, skipping over all of the interesting parts of the story. I am still giving it 4 stars and I still think it is worth reading, but I would have liked more development of the family drama. It would have made the ending more satisfying.
