I noticed that Peter Swanson writes in third person for some chapter & first person for others. I have a theory about why but it would be a spoiler. Anyway, this was a great semi-sequel to The Kind Worth Killing and I can’t wait to read the next one!

I wasn't as big of a fan of this one as I was of the first book. I felt like it was drawn out and not as interesting. I was a little bit disappointed.

Yeah I’m officially done with Peter Swanson. He gave me a sequel to one of my all time favorite thrillers and I still wasn’t invested. It’s like he took the plot of The Kind Worth Killing and watered it down with no plot twists and no interesting new characters. There was one time in the book where I was shocked and that is when the first murder took place. I predicted everything else after that. This sequel also ruined the shock ending of The Kind Worth Killing that left me breathless. I’m actually mad he should’ve left that masterpiece of a story alone. This book is definitely a step above his last one but it was just so lackluster. Peter Swanson seems to be writing without any passion for his stories which is sad because I once considered him a must read thriller author.

I just love Henry and Lily. I know I shouldn't love a murderer, but Lily is just so likeable and loyal it's hard not to.

The murder in this story wasn't as grabbing as the first, but I love the secret Bonnie & Clyde relationship. Joan is a scary manipulative person. How she thought she could get anyone to do anything for her, even murder, was very narcissistic. I liked the twist at the beginning and following along with Joan and Richard and their plans.

Lily does it yet again. She protects the people she cares about even though her methods are not the way to do it. Her dedication to going into character and how her mind works so fast, if things don't go the way she wanted them to the first time around.

I feel bad for Henry, because it feels like he can't do anything right. He's smart but just gets himself into trouble when he should see it coming.
