The Kind Worth Killing is definitely one of my fav book from Peter Swanson and The Kind Worth Saving is a worthy addition to the series, it's the kind worth reading...

The Kind Worth Killing is one of my favorite thriller novels ever, and one of a very few to which I’ve given 5 stars. So I was very excited that a sequel was coming out.

And while this was good, it didn’t quite have the jaw-dropping moments I got from the first one. It does answer some questions left from the first book, but not really in the way I would have liked them to be answered.

As for the plot itself, I felt like the detective wasn’t very good at his job for someone who’d once been a police detective. There was a lot of him driving around trying to figure out what he should do next.

Please be advised that in addition to all the murder one would expect from a Peter Swanson book, this also features an on-page school shooting. Some readers may find this very distressing.

THIS is the Peter Swanson I know and love!

I enjoyed this one and blew through it in a day, but it wasn't nearly as great as the first one. Also, it's been so long since I read the first one that I'd kind of forgotten what happened, so I needed a little refresher. I think binged back to back this one would have been more enjoyable.

1.5, actually. Half point off for the blah ending.
Long, long ago, in 2015, to be precise, I read my first Peter Swanson book, A Kind Worth Killing. And I thought it was fun and entertaining. Didn't love the ending of that one, either, but I said in my review it was a good set up for a sequel. Well no sequel came, but I eventually read six...SIX...other books by him. Three I rated two stars and three got a one star (and a sneer). Not a good track record. I skipped his last book after even all the usual rave reviews weren't raving. But here comes that sequel finally, although I'd totally forgotten the other book. I looked up a synopsis and scratched my head while reading it as it sounded so over the top, did I really like that? Apparently, so I gave this one a shot, and I do have to say it was entertaining if you didn't question all the highly unlikely occurrences. But then the end just fizzles out. Henry Kimble is rendered incapacitated and only figures in half the book, then we get this Lily character, is she evil or good? Are we supposed to like her or not? I don't know, and I don't really care. I feel like I've finally come full circle with these books now, and I can safely ignore them in the future.

i enjoyed this book more than the first one! there was a bit more character development and i was able to begin rooting for the main characters. also, definitely a good book on its own; you dont need to read the first book to enjoy this novel

3.5 stars

I stand by my opinion that these are really addicting. I really enjoy Lily and Kimball as characters and the plots set up by Swanson are winding and unpredictable. The original was more convoluted and more exciting for me personally, but this is still a very good follow up (though I thought the characters of Joan and Richard were not as well realised as the ones in the original making their motivations not exactly immersible all the time). Other than that, I recommend this duology for people in reading slumps because they're very exciting.

The story in this one was not as jaw dropping as the last but this one was still a great read!

I really enjoyed reading ‘The Kind Worth Killing’ last year, so I was very excited to read this sequel. It was an enjoyable read overall and I liked seeing Henry and Lily’s relationship continue where it left off from the first book. I wanted more of Lily’s perspective in this book, though drawing the parallel between her and Joan’s personalities was a very nice touch.
