I enjoyed this volume much more than its predecessor and thought it was pretty cleverly done. I see that this installment has gotten a lot of flack for inserting comic writer Paul Jenkins into the story. And, well, let's face it, inserting Famous Writer as Author of The Characters in the Story doesn't usually end well. See Stephen King's "Dark Tower" disaster for proof of that. But here, the story works extremely well, as does the greater mystery involving why everyone has forgotten who The Sentry is.

I had never heard of the Sentry, and now I know why. Great way to (re)introduce a superhero, and the accompanying villain. I loved almost everything about this story, except the seemingly limitless power of the Sentry, now that he is an Avenger. I'm curious to see if they can still make that interesting. Very pleased with the New Avengers so far!

There's something Morrison-y about Sentry being a part of the 616 this entire time, but his presence being hidden until now. Definitely interested in where this goes next.

In my review of Volume 1, I said I would keep reading "just to see how the group evolves and how they resolve the Sentry plot-line." Well Volume 2 is one for two by those standards. There is a great resolution to the Sentry plot line. I think it is one of the most imaginative hero/origin stories I have ever read. But there is no evolution of the New Avengers, there is actually very little time spent with them. Why is that? Mostly because of this:
description
That's right -- Namor, The Fantastic Four, The X-Men, The Inhumans, Doctor Strange -- all of these characters have guest spots in this four-comic volume, with an especially meaty role being given to Emma Frost. Which doesn't really answer the question of how the New Avengers really fit together, but with this ridiculous line-up of all stars, who really cares?

I fascinated by what they did with The Sentry, and I really enjoyed this story. I feel so sorry for the poor guy! Nice to get a happy ending.. For now at least!

I'm also loving the New Avengers as a group, they've got a bit more edge to them and are a bit scrappier! The little bit with Spider-woman's pheromones made me laugh. There were a few unfortunate/gross poses and butt shots of her in her costume though.

Enjoyed this volume 2. The story is interesting and the art is good. The only reason I didn't like this as much as the previous volume was the lack of focus on the actual team. So many random Marvel heroes had cameos in this.
