Astronomer Sarah Mayfield comes home after making a career-topping presentation to NASA and finds her husband Ben has gone missing, left a gun in their bedroom, and instructed their son to keep the doors locked and the alarms armed. As Sarah works to find out what happened to her husband, secrets unravel and nothing is what it seems to be.
It took me a bit longer than usual to get through this book. It was a good story and I was interested in knowing what happened, but nothing kept me gripped or deeply invested. However, I figured out the true culprit pretty early on and most of the story was quite predictable. Not a bad read, but overall pretty mediocre and relatively forgettable.

A great selection from Once Upon a Bookclub. I wouldn't normally have picked it up, but I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it.
Well, I guessed the ending about 2/3rds way through, but I just loved the writing in this story! This was beautifully written, I loved how Sarah linked things back to astronomy and the stars, and I loved the romance and realism to this one.
Was pretty obvious about 40% of the way through what happened.
THE SPACE BETWEEN by Dete Meserve has a compelling storyline that hits home how we sometimes stop seeing things—truly seeing things—because they're in our line of sight every day; they tend to get lost in the shuffle and often "hide in plain view." I highly recommend this extremely well-written book.
This was an engaging read. I liked the suspense, even though this isn't the kind of book I often choose. However, my favorite part of this book is how the author so seamlessly wove in pieces of astronomy, not just as background for a character, but as a tool for helping the characters and the readers see the world in a broader way. Beautifully written.
The Space Between
This book will have you questioning everyone and everything all the way until the end. You will be wondering who did what, here and when. Such an amazing book and the narration was amazing. This is a book you will not want to miss out on.

I would give this a solid 3.5 stars. Quick, enjoyable, somewhat predictable beach read with a dash of astronomy.
The Space Between follows Sarah Mayfield. As her career excels, her personal life hangs by a thread to the point where she doesn't immediately realize her husband is missing.
I love the premise of this book. For those of us that have been married a while, who have two career households, who have kids and carpools, all the whirlwind things of daily life, I could envision this happening. The days when you see your spouse, but don't really SEE them. The book captures this well, though the reflections of Sarah on the past and current state of her relationship might be a little too tidy. What can I say, I like my characters and their lives a bit unapologetically flawed.
The first part of this book works well. I enjoyed it and read it very quickly. I think things lose a little balance towards the middle/end of the book. I won't reveal any secrets here, but I knew exactly who the bad guy was when the twist was introduced. I read a lot of thriller/mysteries and this isn't uncommon. It gets harder and harder to come up with good twists without making a story implausible. It doesn't really bother me, as long as the story remains compelling and keeps me interested. While I continued to read the story, it did lose a little steam in the second half. Things were wrapped up a little too neatly.
Overall, it was a quick and enjoyable read. Great for the beach. And you might learn a little about astronomy along the way.
