Alex Light gracefully tackled the topic of grieving. Eden and Truman had their own journeys with grief, but they also had each other to lean on. I loved the alternating POVs. Light gradually revealed more about the night of the accident as the story unfolded.

I loved the writing and how the story makes you think deeper. The side characters, especially Manny, were fantastic. Meet Me in the Middle is a heartfelt story about how we grieve while continuing to live our lives.

I just could not get myself to read this. I started it in November and haven’t picked it up since. I might revisit it?

Meet Me in the Middle is incredibly frustrating, and I found myself drifting into ‘what-if’ far too often.
The story focuses on Eden who is trying to get on with life after a crash put her best friend, Katie, in a coma. She blames herself for what happened…not because she was driving, went with Katie or anything that could physically have put her in the frame, but because she was kissing Katie’s brother when Katie snuck out!
Clearly struggling to adjust to life without her best friend, Eden is going through the motions of life and refusing to engage with those who evidently care about her.
When she bumps into Truman, Katie’s brother, the feelings are still there. They spend ages not talking about what happened or how they feel. There’s a few moments that suggest they could resolve things, but then external factors cut in and affect them in ways they’re not ready for.
Everything in this book felt half-formed. Perhaps it reflected Eden’s mental state, but the inability of anyone involved to talk to each other was frustrating.

I really didn't enjoy this one. It was incredibly depressing and there just wasn't enough light in it to combat the darkness. It was a draining read and I didn't enjoy reading it. I actually liked the two main characters, I wish they had been in a different story as this didn't do the characters justice or the storyline.
The writing was so repetitive and at times so boring that I had to skim read it.
This also is not a romance and the ending isn't a proper ending but pretty ambiguous which annoyed me even more. This story could have been told so much better.
This is my second read by this author and although their first book was slightly better, I won't be reading another from them.
