While the art is unique and beautiful, I’m not a fan of how heavy the sketch gets in more action-packed panels. It’s really hard to decipher exactly what’s happening sometimes.

It was good to see the progression of the series however felt that this volume very much was used as a medium to expand the character development and story for the next volume. This isn't a bad thing just didn't feel as fast paced.

I don't know what it is, but I just can't enjoy this series. The characters are all so over the top but not in a fun or good way. The art is beautiful, but it's not enough to save this for me. I'm done with Low, I don't even care how things turn out.

So far, this was the best one. I feel like the authors are slowly winnowing out the worst characters and added some depth to the best ones.

Starve the world of hope and see what you get. As oxygen depletes on a dying Earth, the matriarch of a family, one that's fallen apart forever across the remaining underworld societies, makes it to the surface and aims to still keep going. But given that mankind hasn't been above water for eons, she's not used to the chaos and creatures that now call it home. But she plans to keep going, to make it to a new world in the stars. This thing is still a soulful meditation on what hope can mean if you keep it in strong supply.

Low is a really perplexing title. It’s such a good premise that since volume 1 has had some really good character work. And the art has improved since the first volume. This isn’t to say the art was bad. Just more abstract then most comics warrant.

Stel has gotten to the surface and is in search of the prob. And she never gives up hope.

The themes and message this comic is trying to push is conflicting with The authors writing style. The tropes he uses work when bringing the story down but clashes with the message of hope. Because it’s an assault of depression. And it works but if you step back and look at the themes of hope, never giving up, and family triumphs no matter the distance, it clashes. And it clashes so hard it breaks the spell.

The character work is good, the art has improved, and it’s still interesting, but it should be written by someone else. Someone that doesn’t have the cynical edge that is in all Remenders work.

3 stars.

Getting rather confusing, and also quite depressing. I'll keep going through the next TPB, but someone better survive!
