ANETTE o come si scrive il tuo nome how dare you?????????? Fingerti amica di Min????????HOW HOW HOW?!?!!?? Sono senza parole.
E la scusa di tizio???? Abita vicino a casa mia?!?!?! WUT?

I feel like this is a book that is enjoyable for some people, and yet others won't get it. The latter is me. Don't get me wrong, Handler's writing is amazing and the plot was solid and flowed well. Yet, I couldn't really connect properly. Maybe that's because I've never fallen in love, never had a passionate relationship and never really seen a boy "in that way", but the love story just didn't touch me in ways it did for others. In fact, I got really annoyed with the main character, Min, instead. It just didn't feel right, right from the beginning, which is what she tried to articulate, but in a way that made it seem like it was the boys fault instead.
Still, it is sweet at somes, and sad at others, which are conveyed very well. I did manage to get pulled into some emotions, but overall I read this in a really flat manner.

I read this book with my student book club as part of a publisher promo. I absolutely loved it. The prose is sassy and smart and it really captures the anatomy of a doomed relationship. I couldn't help but think of my own doomed relationship from high school. I can't wait to talk to my high schoolers about it!

An intense, no-holds-barred story of Minerva who decides to return a box of sentimental objects to her ex-boyfriend, Ed. The book's format is very creative in that each chapter deals with the memory and experience connected to one object. The readers are treated to the development of their relationship from its gorgeous beginning to its tragic end. This book will resonate with anyone who has experienced intense love and heartache. The wonderful quality of this novel is that the author never makes the story sappy or trivial. He treats this couple's relationship with dignity and reality. The voice of Minerva is so clever and innocent; highly recommended.
Por qué tantas alusiones a películas viejas XQ??????????
I was eager to read this book because I thought the premise sounded great: a girl and boy break up, the girl sends back a box of the boyfriend’s stuff, with a letter explaining each piece. I especially loved that it was an illustrated novel, because I think seeing the items returned adds a lot to the story. When I first tried to read it, I couldn’t get into it, so I put it down for later. I’m so glad I came back to it. One of my favorite books I’ve read this year. Min is writing a letter to her ex, Ed, and at first I didn’t like the writing style. It was a bit too formal to convince me a heartbroken teenager wrote it to her boyfriend. But as I got more immersed in the story, that issue bothered me less and less until I was dying to know what happened. So good. Read it.
If you can stand the narration, then this might entice you toward the fifth, er, last page. I personally could not and feel heartbroken to give one star to a book with Maira Kalman's name on it (though obviously the illustrations are 5 star!).
