3.5 stars. I enjoyed it and there were some good, ponderable themes to think about. It would make a good book club pick.

I started this book for Mother’s Day and I was definitely surprised with where the story went. I think the fatal flaw with this is to consider Nadia a mother. Which I what I think the author was trying to get us to see. So much of her storyline was determined by judgment towards the abortion. It seems that the abortion was SO positive to her life and yet the tone is very shameful and even personifies the haunting of a potential child which is such a trope. That being said I really loved the nuances in the dynamic between Nadia and her dad as well as Aubrey. I’m so sick of Luke. Happy to not read about him anymore.

Engaging debut. I really found myself caring about all the characters … Nadia, Aubrey and Luke .
*I listened to an audio book version of this, narrated by Adenrele Ojo*
This was the first time I listened to an audio book, and I must say it was such a great experience. The narration of this book was amazing and really kept me engaged in this story. To be honest, I'm not sure if I would have finished this if I'd read it myself.
Overall, this book was a great read. Interesting story line, intriguing perspectives (particularly with the collective voice of the mothers) and well written. Despite my being a sook and not particularly liking how themes (abortion) were discussed in such a negative light, its a 5/5 from me. It's finished, but I still want more. Give me all the intricate details
