Good follow up for their first story Cost of Repair. I started this one soon after the first book about Samuel and Reign. It was nice to see that they were still together and they were fighting for Faith and their love.

I enjoyed Rey and Sam the first time round so was keen to read about them again.
The news that Faith is coming back into Rey's life is immense - and not something that is easy for all concerned.
The very traits that make Sam and Rey great characters - stoicness, solidity and exuberance, fun respectively - make transitioning from coupledom to family unit all the more tricky.
Lots of misunderstandings and umbrage being taken over misinterpreted words and actions, proving life isn't all plain sailing.

The conclusion of Sam and Rey's story. Rey gets another chance to raise his daughther. This is very much an every day, becoming a family story. Every day problems of integrating a child in a still new relationship. Being a parent but the father, starting up a business, asymetric work hours, Rey and Sam relationship is tested. The beauty of this story is that they act and work through things like sane adults, not over grown children.

I liked it a lot. I'm kinda sad that their story is done but I am looking forward to David's (Rey's business partner) journey in the next book in the fall.

Epilogue was made of win! <3 I love Samuel, I love Rey too but I kinda was mad at him a little, lol. But it was real. I totally understand both of their feelings, towards Faith, towards David, and towards each other. I love their family and friends! I'm so glad that they love each other so much that they always talk it through and fix it. It was a very awesome sequel to the first book! Enjoyed reading it! :)

Reread- new edition

I really enjoyed the look back into Samuel and Rey’s life. I loved that fact that Rey got his greatest wish and got custody of Faith.

My feelings regarding that were a bit here and there. I was so happy Rey got her back and still hated Phillis but I actually felt for John, he was an abuse victim and the guys really didn’t take care with him. They did let him back into their lives and in the end had worked out things that worked for all of them, but at the start emotions ran over.

I really liked that things weren’t magically ok. It took time and there were arguments that got out of hand while they all settled into their new lives. I really felt for Samuel during this time. He was struggling to feel included and needed in their lives.

Loved getting to see Rey and Samuel again and ECSTATIC to see Rey reunite with Faith. He has wanted to be in her life for so long and it was heartwarming to see him finally get to be her dad. However, I also spent a lot of the book getting frustrated with him. It's hard to explain, he didn't really do anything objectionable, he had a lot going on and he was so focused on Faith (like he should be) and his business that he kind of let Samuel slide to the wayside. Samuel on the other hand just had a hard time adjusting to Rey having a life outside of him, which is normal, you get used to things and then life changes it up. I'm so happy that David wasn't really a true interloper. I spent the entire book scared Rey would do something he couldn't take back. I'm really interested to read his story which is next in the series.

I was able to get into the book despite not reading the first book about Rey and Sam. They had a lot of misunderstandings — mostly because of themselves — but author got them to work through it, although with an “emergency” to speed up the process. That bit was a bit unsatisfactory because I feel like I would’ve preferred actually seeing them go through it, really spend time on what happens after they’ve both acknowledged their mistakes and now are working to it.

Also, Faith is adorable, and I would have liked to spend more time on her and her adjustment to the new life, how she warms up to Sam. Like, I can see the connection between her and Rey, but I feel for Sam because I don’t quite see it for him.
