I found the pacing of the story to be quite slow and the characters just weren’t to my taste.

I got this, I got this, I got this!! I've been trying to gt ti on eBay 4-ever and I ran across it today at the used bookstore. No f-ing way!!
What a fun book! As unlikely as the premise is, the characters more than make up for it. Katie is sweet and naive, yet she's got a backbone of steel and never backs down from a challenge. She's more than a match for Jorlan, whose arrogance and domineering attitude would destroy a weaker heroine. I loved their instant chemistry and their non-stop banter. A light, breezy read, THE STONE PRINCE is a fabulous introduction to Gena Showalter's work. I'll definitely be buying more of her books!
Katie James, having recently gotten her hands on a home to be refurbished, including a garden with a beautiful marble statue of a man that tempts her. But she starts hearing a tempting voice to kiss the statue so she does, and finds herself kissing a real life breathing man that is pure woman's fantasy. At first she doesn't believe that magic or Jorlan is real, or that such a kiss could be so intoxicating. Jorlan en Sarr has been entrapped as a statue for hundreds of years, never knowing that this one woman would be the one to release him, and he has two weeks to make her fall in love with him and break the spell, if he fails however than he will be a statue for all time. Having come from a panet far away, Imperia, he misses his home but yearns to stay on this one with Katie, who stirs him up like no other woman has ever done. Jorlan is used to obedient women wanting to pleasure him, however Katie is definitely different, far from obedient and pleasing. To Jorlan, Katie is argumentative, stubborn, opinionated and nothing like what he is used to, but he can't seem to get enough of her, and finds that she fascinated him more than any other has ever done, but will he be able to break the spell with this fair maiden that he has fallen madly for.
The Stone Prince is part of the Imperia series, and I loved reading Jorlan and Katie's story. I found it to be such a fun read, similar to her Atlantis series, with the adventure, passion and sassy fun that is portrayed throughout the story. I also loved how different these two are from one another, especially since they have lived in different worlds but find a common goal, in one another. I truly have enjoyed Gena Showalter, and I have to say that I truly found The Stone Prince a enjoyable read. From the first page to the last I found the plot and the characters to be engaging and riveting! So if you are looking for a fun and engaging romance than The Stone Prince is definitely for you. I am definitely looking forward to the other book in the series.

The Stone Prince (Imperia #1) by Gena Showalter gets 4 / 5 stars from me.
Themes, Tropes, & Warnings: Adult, Romance, Paranormal/Alien Romance, Explicit Sexual Content, Strong Female Lead, Royal/Warrior Male Lead, Overprotective Siblings, Misogyny, Magic, Curses, Stone Statues, Revenge, Family Issues, Discrimination.
Thoughts: The Stone Prince follows Katie James, a human house flipper with no luck in the love department, and Jorlan en Sarr, an alien warrior and prince who has been locked inside the confines of a marble statue for centuries. After kissing the statue and freeing Jorlan from his stony skin, not only does Katie have to deal with the baggage he carries, but Jorlan only has two weeks to win her heart or he will turn back to stone.
A steamy and fast-paced read, The Stone Prince dives into a women’s fight to find her person, to find a love everlasting and full of desire. While the book itself does deal with older takes on women, such as being confined to the kitchen and more unpopular beliefs, our male lead grows beyond being a chauvinist pig and wants a women with strength who will walk beside him. The book is sweet, funny, feel-good, romantic, and sensual with a tortured and scarred villain. Although there are a lot of steamy sections, it balances out perfectly with the romance in the book.

This book was surprisingly funny and enjoyable but nothing compared to Gena's more recent work. I think it's difficult to make a pig headed man likeable and Gena achieved this with Jorlen. I would have liked it if she continued this series by giving his brother his own story rather then throwing him into a relationship in the last 50 pages of the book. And even though I've read Grey's book (Jewel of Atlantis) I'd like to know more about the rest of the James boys. Final complaint/observation. Why do women always have to be married and/or pregnant at the end of a romance novel? Why can't the couple go to Disney World?? Getting off track here but that's why I like Cat and Bones (Jeaniene Frost) they are passionate and fun and they don't need to package their relationship into the traditional sense.
