I love SEP books and in the end I loved this one too BUT it was difficult to get to the end. The pettiness of the characters were particularly bothersome in the first few chapters. I enjoyed Sugar Beth's dialogues though! I might have to re-read this one again later, I'm sure I'll like it more the second time around.
I read this a while ago, but had forgotten, so when I started reading it it was like running into an old friend again.
This book is not perfect. The hero is a caricature more than a human, but Sugar Beth, the heroine, is a delight. She's petty and crass and was once a huge bitch, but she's been down a hard road and figured herself out and is now an awesome person. She comes back to the town she fled in her youth and finds no warmth there, only people plotting revenge. She has a mission though and so she holds her head high and gets to work.
The rest of the characters didn't do much for me. I didn't particularly care for Willow, SB's half sister, or Ryan, SB's high school sweetheart, and their marital strife, and a lot of this feels dated, but it still has charm and is a light and breezy read.

What a surprise! I love SEP but it's taken me YEARS to read this book. The summary just didn't seem like something I would want to read. A spoiled 'Queen B' who terrorized her classmates? Yeah, no thank you. However, the more I read - the more I grew attached to Sugar Beth.
The story was a roller-coaster of emotions for me. I would roll my eyes during one scene, chuckle and then have an overwhelming sense of anxiety during the next one.
It's not often that I give a book 4-5 stars and its even rarer that I leave a review. I suggest you give this book a shot. I had low expectations starting in (I'm trying to read all of SEP books.. I'm so close!) and Ain't She Sweet caught me by surprise.

After hearing that this book was a great example of making an unlikeable heroine sympathetic, I had to check it out. And all those folks were right. Sugar Beth Carey was so hateful and mean in high school that she made enemies of everyone. Yet I found myself rooting for her to find both the painting she needed and love.
Such a satisfying story, on so many levels. It proves, once again, why SEP is a master.

This plot couldn’t be any better and how the tables have turned indeed, MMC get’s some good old fashion payback against FMC who did him dirty in the past. The chemistry and tension between Sugar Beth and Colin, hot damn y’all why was this so good.
The manuscript, sigh where have the standards for romance gone these days…(even in the fiction world). Honestly didn’t like Ryan and Winnie’s parts of the story.
Side note: Why did I also read the dialogues with a Southern twang in my head the entire time.

OMG. My heart hurt so much for Sugar Beth during the gathering she served at. The humiliation she had to endure just tore me up. There is no excuse for what Sugar Beth did to Colin when she was a teenager, but dang...his revenge was brutal.
I wish we could have seen Ryan work through his animosity towards Sugar Beth because it just seems he never worked through them but everyone else had.
I also would have liked a brief summary of Colin's latest book. I am sure it was a love letter to Sugar Bear but I wanted to shed a few more tears.

4-4.5⭐️ I love a good redemption book but what I love the most about this book is the fmc & mmc banter. I live for their level of sarcasm & sass. Overall it’s hard to put down this book, but could do it without winnie & ryan scenes tho. This book is done in 3rd pov but that never bothered me
