Thank you to Science, Naturally! for sending me a forecast copy for review!

This was so cute. I couldn't help singing the rhymes in my head to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. It kind of loses the cadence every once in a while but that's simply because I only know one verse of the original 5-verse song (which I didn't know until I looked it up for this review!). If I knew how the full song sounded, it probably wouldn't have felt that way.

As for the actual content, I think this is a great introductory to what the sun is and to astronomy in general. I like that it's a board book too and the illustrations are delightful. The suggested age level for this book is 2-7 and I agree that's appropriate, though I think even children older than that can appreciate the art despite feeling they may be "too old" for the nursery rhyming. It's really great that it's a board book, too, because I can see this book being read many many times.

Overall I enjoyed it! And I can absolutely see us using it for story time.

+ This board book shares tons of facts about the sun, solar system, and space in a sing-songy, rhyming structure. The information is shared in a way that's easy for little learners to understand and highlights how things in outer space impact our day-to-day lives.

-Although this is a board book, the text could be too long for some young readers.

*Who is this for? Older babies (18 months+) and toddlers who are full of questions about how stuff works.

I won this book through a The StoryGraph giveaway and it was just so lovely. It’s a wonderful way to explain the Sun to a young audience and while my son was just a liiiiittle too young to fully grasp it, he understood enough. The illustrations are also so well drawn and some of my favorites from kids books.

I received an electronic sample of this book from the publisher as a Storygraph giveaway.

The illustrations in this rhyming book are colorful and whimsical at times, as they help break down concepts related to seasonal changes, why it looks like the sun is moving across the sky, and our longer nighttimes.   The children in this informational picture book are diverse in their skin tones and hair textures and their activities will appeal to many including eating cold treats, sledding, and visiting the beach.  The book begins and ends with a young boy in his bedroom, as he seems to talk to the daytime star, the sun.

This would be a good addition to a classroom or other educational setting.  (grades Kindergarten- 2nd grade)

Thanks to Science, Naturally! and Storygraph for the giveway. My ratings and reviews are my own.

I got this in a giveaway as an ebook. I'm now planning on buying a physical copy to give to my nieces. One of my nieces is in love with space, so she'll love this book. It's a great way to introduce science to kids and also get them to start noticing the universe beyond our world. Highly recommend.
