This book is my first introduction to author, Shannyn Schroeder. I am happy to report that after reading this book I will be checking out more books by Shannyn. Additionally, this book had humor to it. Looking for your next grumpy/sunshine romance then you need to pick up a copy of Under Your Skin.

Norah and Kai could not be more complete opposites. Luckily for them as the saying goes...opposites attract. I will say that in the beginning, I was not such a fan of Kai. He definitely took the role of "grumpy" seriously. Although, his sour attitude did not last long and after that I did warm up to him.

The chemistry between Norah and Kai was a slow burn. Which I was here for it. You know what happens something grows; it grows to the point that it explodes. That is Norah and Kai and their chemistry. I look forward to reading Sean's story next.

I liked it enough to read another one. Kai and Norah were an interesting couple, him an ex-con ex-gang member, and her an impregnated college student giving her baby up for adoption.

Though it might be true to life, I really disliked the over-protectiveness of the male characters, both Kai, the love interest and the heroine's brothers.

Written very poorly. I did eventually get to like the characters and want to keep reading but it took a really long time to get to there.

Norah O'Malley is pregnant and has returned home to figure out what to do next. Thinking her brothers would support, she is right in a sense but she is also feeling alone and afraid. Norah is trying to find a job, but seven months pregnant does not make it easy. When she meets Kai Ellis, her brothers boss, he is about as friendly as petting a porcupine. However, when he offers her a job to help with his mother everything changes.

Kai feels Norah is off limits, one she is pregnant, and two she is his employee's sister. The chemistry though is sizzling between them though is making it difficult to resist. Kai though has walls erected so high it could touch the clouds, Norah is determined to break them down but will he allow it.

This was an unexpected surprise. Kai is a bit of a mystery with his gruff behavior and closed off personality, you fall for him though hook, line and sinker. I loved Norah, she is a unique character who brings a smile to your face. Had a few surprises I did not expect, love a plot line that is different.

Though I wasn't always sold on the romance of this story (she's eight months pregnant at the beginning, and he's pretty much a jerk for a good 1/3 of the book at least), I loved the family aspect of it. Norah's returned home to her dad and four brothers, and though they can all be more than a little overbearing at times, I loved the back-and-forth between them all. I don't blame her at all for getting exasperated and aggravated with them all at times, but they were there for her when she needed them (eventually, at least) and that made them awesome.

Come to think of it, Kai's relationships with his mom and sister were pretty good too. He did have that in his favor--though he was kind of an a$$ to them too at times. He gets better, at least.

Ms. Schroeder definitely went a different direction with her heroine on this one--I wasn't too sure at first what to think of Norah, who's only got about a month left in her pregnancy before she finally 1) tells the baby's father or 2) actually makes a plan for what she's going to do about her situation. Talk about denial! I really respected Noarah's choice, though, and the way she stuck to it despite all the men she had getting in her face and trying to make her decide differently. She really did go with what would be best for the baby, and the fact that Kai was the only guy in her life that was behind that decision 100% definitely brought him up several notches in my estimation.

Fortunately, Norah and Kai's relationship grew from there, and Kai gradually became a lot less of a jerk in the process. By the end when he's managed to de-compartmentalize his life in an effort to make himself more worthy of Norah, I was in his corner 100%. I'll enjoy seeing the two of them together as Norah's brothers (except Jimmy, whose story--[b:Catch Your Breath|22343682|Catch Your Breath (The O'Learys, #4)|Shannyn Schroeder|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1401875029s/22343682.jpg|40656490]--was in another series and which I'm going to have read soon) get their own stories as the series continues.

Emma is just a “little” frustrated. But then her hero comes riding up on a motorcycle – “sigh…” Sean O’Malley has met a force that just may rock him on his heels. Both of these characters don’t seem to let people see too much which makes it hard to figure out who they are. And I continued to feel that way as the story went on.

Once you meet Emma’s mother, you can just imagine the type of childhood she had. This story shows how true the saying, “you can pick your friends but not your family”. Maybe this is why she seems so indecisive about things. Sean’s family seemed more together. But that doesn’t change the fact that Sean needs to grow up. You can tell he wants a relationship but if he can’t be more responsible in his own life, how can he handle trying to form a relationship with a woman. The things these two have going on made it hard for me to think of them as a couple.

I just couldn’t feel any connection between Emma and Sean. I tried to because you want the main couple to be happy with each other but I failed at trying to see them getting old together. For me, it was the secondary characters that I enjoyed. Just because this story was a fail for me it didn’t stop me from wanting to know more about Nora and Tommy. What I did like was watching Emma break out of the shell she put around herself. I also got an ending that fit for these two. It’s not a happy ending, it’s not an over the top ending but after seeing these two characters together it’s just right.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
