Interesting but also a little forget5table. I didn't remember most of the stories I'd read in the previous chapter!

Enjoyed the examples and situations that Gavin Francis reproduces in this book. Very intimate details about how the process of life and body affect us. I do wish there was more exploration in this book. I feel like some significant areas are not covered. I appreciate that he focuses on areas of the body that might be overlooked easily. I guess I just want more content.

Really enjoyed this tour of the human body. Some fascinating stories and facts, a number of which made me put the book down to properly absorb. A good level of information, left me wanting more detail and knowledge about lots of areas but I think that is probably intentional. Sometimes I struggle to get through non-fiction but this was gripping and the chapters were split up in a way that made it easily consumable. Francis brings so many different ideas together in a way that is compelling - history of medicine (a favorite topic of mine), art, literature - combining factual science and humanity so well.

Love books with a medical slant. A fascinating journey from head to toe that combines the most up to date science with ancient history, tradition and philosophy. I learnt so much and laughed lots too. Great job Mr Francis. More please

Wonderful tour of the human body in medicine, through the lens of an entertaining polymath. Made for excellent reading aloud to the family on a cross country trip, and would be a thoughtful gift for anyone in a health field with an ounce of interest in the broader scope of things. He moves fluidly from history to poetry to art to anthropology to music, and back to surgery, and he tells stories of so many places he has practiced medicine and learned, that it was somewhat astonishing to look at the author photo at the end and see his young age. Read this! You won't regret it.
