Short Review: Well this book, and i use that term lightly, is basically Ever questioning if Damen is really her "soul mate". *sigh* Where to begin, maybe that fact that you guys have countless lives together where you ALWAYS END UP TOGETHER, maybe that proves you are soul mate. Or maybe how you are OBSESSED with him and never think about anyone but him, that would be a good flag too. But not, Ever has to be Ever and do this shit where she questions shit that doesn't need questioned because hey, she's a drama whore. Side note, whomever edited these books, why do you keep letting Noel say "the heat and tinge only he can provided"?! It's worded that way every time Ever says it, and she says it at least 5 times every book, why not use other words, or say it differently. Dropped the ball editor.

Misc.

Book Boyfriend: Jude i guess.
Best Friend Material: NO!

Review in GIF Form:

It was easy to fall back into Ever and Damen’s world and get caught up in their epic love story. Author Alyson Noel keeps up the twists and turns and she never ceases to surprise me. I didn’t think anyone could pull me away from being a Damen fan, but Jude makes a strong case. I can see why Ever ends up confused!

Haven and Miles take a backseat in this one and the story concentrates more on Ever and Damen, but for the moments we do see them, they shine. We also get to hear a bit from Riley (via the help of others) and her appearances, even if they are not really seen, still make me smile. And my favorite twins, Romy and Rayne are back. I think these two are my favorite characters in the entire series and I looked forward to every scene they appeared in.

Shadowland explores the magical world Ever and Damen are part of in more depth and the subjects of reincarnation, spells, and fate are explored in more detail in this offering. I really liked learning more about how the magic works in this world and the intricacies Alyson Noel added were lots of fun to read about.

The only complaint I had was the over-use of the word “gape,” but I was able to overlook it because I was caught up in the story as a whole. The ending of this one will keep you turning pages and eagerly awaiting the next volume.

Shadowland is another exciting and addicting read in The Immortals series. Alyson Noel knows how to keep her readers hanging and it’s easy to see how this series is continually gaining new readers. Once you start reading about Ever and Damen you won’t want to stop!

i love this series!

DNF at 50%. I literally fell asleep. Ever is so damn annoying, and bratty. Damen is just as annoying and unrealistic in every way. You’re trying to tell me that someone who’s been alive for over 600 years finally reunited with his “eternal soulmate”

Immortals. Living forever, never dying or decaying. Some say that is what humans are looking for: the never-ending youth and beauty. Ever, who is finishing up her junior year of high school is an immortal. Impress of, right? At best she will finish her puberty growth, ending up looking about nineteen for the rest of life (a life that is never ending); thus immortal. For some this is great, I mean heck you look young forever, but to others it is disaster as everyone around you starts to grow old, forcing you into hiding until their death. Ever, who is thinking very short term about this, thinks her immortal life is perfect for one reason: Damen. Damen is not only the love of her life, but the love of her previous lives as well. Damen had found each recantation of Ever, and just when they were about making their love everlasting, Drina (Damen ex-wife) comes in to kill her. Now that this recantation of Ever is immortal, it is finally time to get what all the other’s Ever wanted: Damen in her bed.

To save Damen life, Ever made the deal with the devil (or in this case Roman), Damen came back to life but would be killed instantly if their DNA ever mixed. Now that Damen is better, Ever tells him what happen, with the Damen reassuring voice of reason telling her that they will work it out with one thing he asks for her: do not go after Roman. Do not talk to him, do not try to make another deal with him, leave it to Damen and before long they will be able to hold each other, clothes off. But something about Roman, makes Ever not stay away, and like Roman said, maybe they're more alike than she thinks. With Sabine and Mr. Munoz starting their love life (which Ever is happy for, but seriously her history teacher?) Sabine is hammering down on Ever forcing her to get a job over the summer. Giving up the offer at Sabine’s place, Ever takes the job at a magic shop who is looking for a new reader now that Ava had left them. With Lina (the shop owner) out, Jude is left in charge, and after a reading from Ever, he hires her on. Working in close corners with Jude, Ever feels something that only Damen brings up in her, feeling that in one of her past life time she knew Jude then as well. With new boy Jude, Damen is trying to clear four hundred years of bad deeds, and Roman sulks the corners waiting for Ever to mess up, Ever finds herself surrounded by more than just boy problems, and when it is time to decide life or death, Ever has to choose between what Damen believes and what Roman can provide her.

My goodness can Alyson Noel write a teen heartthrob of a novel. Damen, sexy golden pretty boy is the perfect boyfriend and not just for his looks. He is just so understanding, that Ever would have to really mess it up to make Damen stop loving her, like really go on mass murdering spree kind of mess. Where he felt he had been selfish and horrible in the past, none of that lies here as Damen is the number one boy in this series. Ever, on the other hand, is anything but perfect. As a person who is new to this whole immortal world, she takes it into her hands, ignoring Damen warnings and keep making deals with Roman, someone who she is supposed to despise. Then bringing in Jude, a past lover of Ever, brings a twist to this story, as being some males fight for their female, Damen completely backs up letting Ever have the summer to decide between Jude, the hot surfer she just met, or Damen her immortal love whom she cannot touch. Noel writes a fast pace, keeping your reading through the night for this twist of a novel. Ever makes another bad decision, one that does not just affect her life, but everyone around her, and it is not going to be pretty when Haven finds out what she did.

I don't know how much longer I can continue this series. Sure I gave it three stars but I'm starting to wonder if I was being too nice. I thought the first book was ok. Got to the second book that had more action but by the end wasn't very happy. Now I'm on the third book and I'm wondering why I bother. The characters that I really didn't care much for in the first place I am growing to hate.
Ever didn't seem really bad in the first book. I actually kind of liked her. By the second book she was really on my nerves. Her being constantly confused left me equally confused and just wanting to get to the end. Now in this book I'm wondering if her character will ever redeem herself. Since in my opinion she's turning into one of the worst female leads ever, up there with Bella. I really hope she turns things around next book. I mean really. How many mistakes can you make and not learn from. I not sure if it's cause she's a teen, blond, or both. I just can't see how anyone could make as big as mistakes as she does.
I didn't see the point of introducing Jude. When in my opinion he wasn't really in the book enough to get to know him real well. He seems nice enough but I would have liked to spend more time with the character. I normally really like the bad guy but Roman mostly irritates me. Sometimes I like him but I just hate how he seems to know what everyone is going to do. I also find Damen a bland character and find Ever's friends at most pointless.
Time for some good things and why I probably gave this three stars. I liked that it kept my attention and kept me wanting to read more. Even though the ending irritated me I will definitely read the next book. Really I think that's the point of books for the most part. As long as they keep your attention and leave you wanting more then they have done their job.

I am getting really annoyed with this series. Each book ends with something absolutely horrible happening, basically to get the reader to buy or borrow the next book, to see how that gets resolved. I'm thinking, though, that this is the last one of these I am going to read.

The main character, Ever, is childish and now immortal. Great, just what we need, a 16-year-old child with the magic and powers to create things out of nothing. She's not spoiled, thank goodness, but that's only because her entire family dies at the beginning of the series. Apparently the only way to make a heroine is to completely destroy her life. I'll get behind that - it's a running theme in a lot of stories, especially when one combines coming-of-age with fantasy. But then we meet our hero, Damen, who is perfect beyond perfect. Except really not, and really creepy. And by book 3, the creepy is really showing through.

Our heroine, of course doesn't see any of the creepy, and only wants him for the rest of eternity, and since they are basically immortal, that really means eternity. But now there's another guy who was in her past, not just Damen - maybe this new guy is the one she is meant to be with. I mean, after all, he can communicate with her dead sister, so he must be pretty cool, right?

Can you tell I'm annoyed?

And of course the book ends with Ever doing magic she isn't supposed to when she isn't supposed to, calling upon dark powers (oops!), and facing a decision that will either leave her not touching her One True Love Damen forever or killing her best friend. By the time I got to the end of this book, I just wanted to nuke the entire cast. Except for her aunt Sabine, who is her guardian since the parents died, and her teacher Mr. Munoz, who have begun dating and are really quite adorable. They can stay.

I don't really like Ever. She is childish and is always doing everything wrong!
Damen is really sweet and cute, but I really like Jude! I wish he had kissed Ever.
I want to read more about their previous lives and about the love triangle.
The twins are really really cute, and I hope they choose to stay in this realm. But I think all that story about them being them adoptive parents is kinda stupid.

I liked the book, but I still think the way these books are written is a little poor in comparison with other books I read.

It was an interesting instalment, though once again I found myself rooting for the guy who wasn't Ever's BigTruLove(TM). Just my luck. It was a light read but the mayb protagonist still anoys me with her choices and lack of thinking abilities.
