Lexie is overweight, but her sister's wedding is coming up and she's under a lot of pressure to lose it before the wedding, especially as she's invited her Internet crush to attend as her guest. She joins the Health and Happiness Society, a group to help her meet her goals.
We go through an almost daily accounting of Lexie's trials and triumphs along the way. She learns to eat clean, exercise, and builds up a better rapport with both her family and Bradley, the Internet guy. It's inspirational as a weight-loss book with some good tips, especially for attaining the correct mental state - one should want to lose weight for themselves, not for anyone else. It's not really a romance; Bradley is really there only to show how losing weight to win him is wrong. The weird stuff with the wedding is a confusing mishmash of how he probably would have liked Lexie anyway.
This is probably a good book for teens and young adults concerned with their weight.

Awesome book! Great Audiobook as well. I loved hearing a story about women who struggle with the same things I do with weight loss and happiness. Highly recommend the series

Quick read. Not the best but not the worst. Fun to read on this long 12 hour road trip.

Predictable and empowering. You’re cheering for Lexie to grow and learn about herself the whole time. Every girl whose struggled with her weight will see herself in Lexie. Easy, feel good read.

So I started reading this, and at first, I was so annoyed by the main character and everyone in her family. I didn't know how they could possibly grow on me...
but then...
But THEN...
BUT THEN!
This turning point happened about 25% into the novel. The point in the novel where the character has a major internal moment of realization and begins her transformation and HOLY CRAP. I was hooked. I stayed up until 2 in the morning on vacation so I could finish it. I couldn't go to bed until I read every last word on each page. It was incredible. And inspirational. As someone who is also on her own (albeit slower) weight loss journey, this really resonated with me and I can't recommend it enough to anyone. I can't wait to read the rest of the Health and Happiness Society books. The character makes tremendous growth throughout the story, and you really start rooting for her and everyone else alongside her.

I liked this book at first but it started to just get plain boring... the monotony started happening and I just felt DONE. It’s a pity because the first bit was great but it just seemed like a never ending, plain, boring story by the end.
