I don't much feel like writing a full review, so here are some points I want to touch upon:
-- Writing is still solid. Not especially impressive, but the story doesn't ever suffer because of it.
-- The story is getting more interesting. Still pretty vague about this whole "purpose" thing, but it doesn't feel boring, despite how little really goes on.
-- This book made me cry; it gets points just for that. The death scene did me in, and I teared up any time
SpoilerClara's mom was talking about how she was dying, especially when Jeffery was involved.

-- The love triangle is pretty well done. I feel torn much in the same way Clara does-- when she's with one boy, she feels like the feelings she has for him are undeniable. I loved the scenes with both Christian and Tucker, and I preferred whichever one Clara was with at the time. By the end of the book. I was definitely leaning more towards Christian, but I could probably be swayed back to Tucker.
Overall, I'd say so far that this series is good, but nothing super impressive. I enjoy reading the books, and I'm really looking forward to finding out how it ends.

See book one for review of the series.

Really 3.5 Stars. Review with reasons why to come.....

I was completely surprised by this series. I honestly didn't think a book about angels could be interesting without being all preachy. But it took quite a different approach then I was expecting.

There were only a few things I didn't enjoy, and mostly because of my own taste not for fault in the book.

I am so completely bummed that Tucker can't be her 'right now' anymore. I don't like Christian that much, I found him a little pompous about being an angel blood and a little weird.

I loved the Twilight references Cynthia Hand puts in there a couple times. That made me laugh!

And I suspected Jefferey to have started the fires, yet I was thinking he was going to be turning into this evil Black Wing and there would be another book about how White Wing and Black Wing from the same family and battle. . . or something. So it was not as I expected, still good, but since he had been acting like such an ass, I was hoping he would get what was coming to him.

And I'm a little irked about angel bloods only living 120 years. But, like I said. Not the books fault or the authors, just my own little fantasy about what I imagined.....anyway. . .

I enjoyed this series a lot. I loved the humor and smart wit. As well as how Hand writes emotions in all her characters, especially the facial expressions, I can picture them so clearly.

Good stuff for a fun read.

We could sum up by I cried, I cried, I cried, and I cried. that book was amazing...

Bit depressing, but good on the whole. That is all. Anything else would be too spoilery.

This Book was absolutely fantastic. Luckily I took out the third one from my library. I must see how this book ends.

Hallowed picks up where Unearthly leaves off, as Clara deals with the repercussions of how she handled her angel purpose. Now, a new purpose-like dream materializes that has her worried about someone close to her. As Clara’s focus is pulled into the angel world, where does that leave her relationship with Tucker? And when tensions heat up with the Black Wings, Clara finds herself right in the middle of the conflict.

This is a more melancholic book than Unearthly. Clara has a lot of sadness around her that weighs her down, not least of which is the awareness that she is about to lose a loved one. She has angel growing pains as she learns more about her powers and how much others are relying on her. She is learning more about her purpose and how her choices make it evolve. There is the question of fate, and how she can choose to accept or ignore the path that she is destined for. So, this is a turning point sort of time for Clara.

Another small problem competing for Clara’s attention is the growing love triangle. Cynthia Hand pokes fun at love triangles in general in the book, and even with a nod to Twilight. It seems that Christian fits perfectly in her life, and the only problem is that her heart belongs to Tucker. I found myself tugged in both directions in regards to the love triangle, and I’m not sure it’s over, no matter how things left off.

In addition to the angel revelations and matters of the heart, I was also really interested in the character relationships. In particular, Clara’s brother Jeffrey, and friend Angela have me very intrigued. I was glad to see Jeffrey with a meatier role in this installment, but it left me wanting even more answers. New characters and surprise appearances in the book also provided some of the back-story I craved.

Hallowed is a very worthy follow up to Unearthly, and an emotional, heart wrenching read. The series is well written and addictive, and even has a sense of humor that can win over paranormal weary readers. I can’t wait to find out what’s in store in the next installment!
