I read this book in April of 2022.

I’m a big fan of Briar Prescott’s Better With You series.

Book Four, “The Inconvenient Love,” features a best friend’s little brother, age gap romance between Max and Isac.

Max is 12 years older than Isac and doesn’t see him in that way until Isac returns to Boston, after being in San Francisco for the last six years. Isac has had a crush on Max since he was a teenager, but forces himself to stay away after a kiss with disastrous results.

Once the two reunite, it’s a story full of humor, heat, and heart. Prescott rounds out the cast with familiar characters previously highlighted in other books in the series. If you are a fan of found family and friends to lovers, you should definitely check this out!

I usually enjoy the light, fluffy fun of this author’s books but this one is def not for me. I just couldn’t overcome the ick factor of Max hooking up Isac, someone he’s known since Isac was a young boy (a pseudo uncle even), and the author couldn’t convince me they had an iota of chemistry together that could possibly cancel out that icky feeling. So that’s a no from me.

Sad to say that I did not like this book as much as the previous entries in the series. Max and Isac just didn't really seem to have chemistry?

Isac had a crush on Max, Max just saw Isac as a little brother, then Isac goes off to try and get over the crush.

Isac comes back years later and Max suddenly realizes he actually likes Isac because he's sexy now?

Then Max does stuff where he cock blocks Isac who also realizes that he actually didn't get over his crush and kind of just wasted his time away (and built up guilt at leaving his family behind)

Not enough of an emotional connection between Max and Isac imo. Didn't really sell Max's sudden realization that Isac is now a hot and sexual being.

Much anticipated

I waited soooo long to finally get this story, and then I couldn't help but devour it in less than a day. It was absolutely perfect, and a testament to Briar that I laughed, swooned and teared up while reading this. Knocked this one out of the ballpark.

Lots of fun with a wee bit of angst

This was a great read! I’ve loved this whole series and this was no exception. Despite the occasional bit of angst, this was overall funny and light with moments of profundity. I was really happy with the solution to their problem the characters came up with and loved their relationship all around.

Great ending to a beautiful series. Have wanted max & Isac story since the end of book 3 and this doesn't disappoint. These 2 just get each other and did need to grow up before realizing how well they worked together.
