Beautiful memoir about the decade Bringley spent as a guard at the Met.
He includes links to many of the works of art he mentions on his website.
A meditation on grief (his brother died of cancer in his 20s), life, and art.
Strongly recommend.

A memoir reflecting on a guard's life circumstances which led him to become a guard at the Met and the reflections he has from his time working there. I thought this was really well done and was a very honest and open reflection on his experience. There was a good mix of personal stories which helped us understand who he was and what life experiences he had which led him to work at the Met with stories from the work. Included a lot of insight into what the everyday of a job which involves so much standing is like and the community that is built amongst guards there.

Beautiful observations on self, others, and art. I'm embarrassed to admit my expectations were low for this one, and Bringley far surpassed them.
