I DNF’d at 82% not because it wasn’t good, but because I hadn’t read it for a few months and couldn’t get back into it. This was a weird setting for me to wrap my mind around, an RH in a high school prep academy, it’s too young for me. The storyline was interesting and what kept me reading, and some of the MMC’s were good, but the FMC was not my favorite.

❝I want a mobster’s son with the face of an angel and the rap sheet of a street kid. I want the singer with a soft heart wrapped in barbs and trip wires of devastating wit to keep it safe. I want the billionaire’s unwanted son with eyes of ice and an endless love for his sister.❞

Spoiler Free Full Series Review

Hannaford Prep was supposed to be Lip’s ticket out of her old life in Mounts Bay, but it isn’t long before she realizes she jumped from the frying pan into the fire. The luxurious halls of her new home may be a far cry from the gang ruled streets she grew up on, but they’re no less deadly.

 —» Characters:
Bree is an expert at utilizing her characters to bring to life the world around them. Every single one serves a purpose, no matter how minor they are.

Our heroine Lips is one of my favorite character types. Strong, resilient, resourceful, smart, and badass. She is definitely not a damsel in distress, even if she’s constantly being targeted. I loved how she had platonic relationships outside of her love interests, as they were vital to the development of her character.

The secondary characters of this story are fleshed out and in no way feel flat, which is a requirement for my enjoyment. Most of my favorites aren’t introduced in the first book, so to avoid spoilers, I won’t elaborate on them.

Unfortunately, the three love interests got on my nerves a bit too much. I felt like they didn’t respect Lips’ place as one of the Twelve. She earned her place among them, and she knows how to navigate that world, and yet they would constantly undermine her role, as if she was naive. They kept interfering to show they were big strong men when they weren’t needed, becoming liabilities, and it got on my nerves. Sadly, Lips allowed them to act this way with little resistance—which is frustrating because she doesn’t let anyone else walk all over her the way they do; it contradicts one of her core character traits.

 —» Plot:
I loved the plot of each individual book, and the series as a whole. Bree managed to create a story that kept me glued to the pages.

 —» Writing:
The writing was well done, and supported the quality of the book instead of taking away from it.

 —» Tropes:
•Badass Heroine
•Bully Romance—heavy in first book and part of second
•Enemies-to-Lovers—first book and part of second
•Elite Boarding School—entitled rich kids, ‘heroes’ rule the school, bitchy queen bee’s, etc.
•Famous/Rich Heroes
•Heroine Has Secret Identity
•Gangs—in the background of the first book, but becomes more prevalent throughout series

After reading Hannaford Prep I will forever read all of J Bree's books!! Wow-what a ride! I cannot emphasize enough how much people should devour Lips and the guys story, although Lips and Avery together definitely steal the show. Seeing how Lips, Avery, Harley, Ash, and Blaise have created such a tight-knit family that would do anything for each other and fight to the end makes me want to re-read this series over and over again. The bonus scenes in this collection give you so much that you didn't even know you were missing!

Couldn't put it down

I read the entire series strait through and I could not put it down. First book since Harry Potter first came out that kept my attention and I had to know what would happen next. Excellent ready.

I didn’t know I could like Mafia books

I never really thought mafia books would be something I would get into, but leave it to J Bree to write a story I couldn’t put down! Here’s a quick recap and my two cents.

Quick recap:

Lips Anderson had the worst upbringing imaginable. At 16, she is emancipated and has earned a scholarship to a prestigious prep school. She thinks she’ll be able to use the time at school to get away from the gang life she was entrenched in, but she’s finding that harder than expected.

My two cents:

This book has the same twisted appeal The Bonds That Tie has. I couldn’t put it down and am definitely lacking in sleep from the last week.

I also want to go back and reread the first book a few times to see the guys fall in love with Lips all over again. There’s something about them not falling all over her immediately that definitely appeals to me.

Like most RH books, there are a few sex scenes. Some are group scenes. No MM scenes in case you’re interested. They’re moderately spicy at times, but not so spicy you need to take a cold shower

This is one of my new favorite series!!!! I mean this book has everything... Enemies to lovers... check. Kickass main character... check. Hot guys... check. Plotting and mayhem... check. Steamy romance... check. I am so mad that this series is over and I can't wait to read all the spin off series because I NEED more of this universe that J. Bree created.

Hannaford Prep

I absolutely love this series. Lips is one kick Ace chick and I love how much everyone underestimates her. Her relationship with Avery is seriously best friend goals. They fit together so perfectly and I love how close they were able to become despite the issues freshman year.
Each of the guys bring something completely different to the relationship and they all share different things with lips. This is one RH series where I can say that I can’t pick a favorite guy. I can’t wait to read more about this awesome family in world tour and college.
