I get what they're trying here, and I love the art. I even like the combination of hard science with Lovecraftian overtones. Very 70s sci-fi. I can't stand the main character. I could barely finish the book, because I could not stand his arrogant egotism. It's a shame, since I like so much else about the comic, but I won't be picking up the next volume.

Intriguing story, the more I read the more I want to read. Great writing. Some of the art is kinda that classic "superhero" look that I don't really care for, but knowing where these guys come from its not unexpected; it's really only their human characters that are like that so you can ignore it mostly. The alien characters and places are great though, and the color work is gorgeous.

A darker version of Sliders, didn't really work well for me. Remender likes to punish his characters.

This takes exactly the same amount of time to read as listening to Sufjan Stevens's Carrie & Lowell. Fact.

Super gorgeous art. Fun/funky idea (basically the multiverse, except instead of that 1995 Sliders episode where Hillary is president, or that one universe in which I am a banana (ALL HAIL MU), there is a Nazi/Navajo galactic war going on in one 'verse and a monkey kung fu kingdom in another). Poor execution.

Poor execution cuz the "hero" of the story is your classic Ego Man anti-hero that hates himself, that everyone hates, that is meant to be vile, yet that the author(s) clearly really really like. Sorry, but I just don't care about multiverse-traveling douchebags.

Points for the monkey kingdom.

Exceptional; one of the best new stories I've read in a while.

I have had intentions of getting into this series for year's. I've heard nothing but praise and love for it. Finally I ordered my copy.

Not going to lie. I am slightly disappointed. And it's one of these times in which it is more me than the material. The art is wonderful, the colors are perfect for it. The plot line is interesting, fun, creative.

So what is my problem? The characters. There is not a single one I give a damn about. I hate Grant (the mc) and all the others, eh. I am usually excited to get the next volume but I really don't see myself returning.

The art in this is phenomenal but the story felt like the aftermath of an explosion that I couldn't quite make sense of until the very end. I'm intrigued though and will try and carry on with the series.

This was my first read of Rick Remender and what a way to start!

This was a grim, gritty, dark book that was pure FUN! Great sci-fi pulp. Matteo Scalera just let himself off the leash. So many imaginative creatures and dimensions.

At first, when I read the first issue, I was irritated, because I thought, "And why couldn't this protagonist have been a woman? Or a different race." But as this series went on, it really became a tale of the folly and hubris of the white man.

Great series and I am eagerly anticipating the next volume.

Liked: artwork, introspective monologues, diverse characters

I hope the repetitive pattern doesn’t continue in the second volume, however, it’s kinda part of the story.
