This is my first book by Cora Reilly and I’m not a fan of MC stories, so I wasn’t sure what to expect but this book is excellent. I missed the part in the description that this is a duet and I absolutely hate cliffhangers but I still enjoyed it very much. The story starts off a bit slow but the suspense is perfect. Once the action starts, it never stops. I would have liked more dialogue between the Marcella and Maddox before they declare they’re in love but their relationship is still quite interesting.
Maddox was willing to sacrifice his own life to save Marcella, so I really like him right up until the last pages when I begin to have doubts. We’ll see how that turns out in the conclusion. Marcella is awesome, though. She’s a complete badass and I loved her more and more as the story progressed. I’m not going to go into detail about the plot because there’s no way to avoid spoilers but it’s going to be a real drag waiting until December for the conclusion. That’s a long time. I probably wouldn’t have read this book if I had realized there was a cliffhanger with a three month wait for the conclusion but I enjoyed the book very much and look forward to the ending.
Me gusto muuucho aunque es triste ver sufrir a mi famiglia

i liked this but it’s a similar plot to twisted pride except remofina have a stronger connection… this moved quite fast but enjoyed nonetheless

They say that there is a fine line between hate and love. And Maddox White definitely hated Luca Vitiello and his family. Luca Vitiello took his family from him and he was dead set on getting revenge on the man he will never forget. What is the one way to break a man? Through the people he loves the most.
To say that Cora Reilly fans have been waiting for this second generation stories to be told is understatement. But fans, this one was worth the wait. Marcello, the first born daughter of the Capo of the New York mafia has a bit of a reputation for being a spoiled princess. And I loved how she played into the role, but really made readers wonder if that is who she really is.
Reilly did an amazing job of creating characters that you love to hate. I know I was supposed to dislike Maddox, but there is something about him that makes you want to cheer for him. I also loved the way he grew emotionally throughout this book. His fellow MC members were easy to hate. And really, really disliked them!
Throughout this book Marcella really came into her own, and showed her strength. It is clear this girl is a Vitiello and the way she handled herself in stressful times was amazing. I found myself loving how much she was like her father. The snippets into the life that Marcella and Vitiello family have lived after we left off with them was also wonderful. We were able to see the inner workings of the beautiful family that Aria & Luca have created.
I enjoyed how these two separate worlds collided for Maddox & Marcella, especially when the odds are stacked so far against them. I was a little disappointed at first when Cora Reilly announced this was going to be a two part book. But now, I see it. It is perfect. Their story isn’t simple, and I can’t wait to see where she takes these two.
I would not recommend this as a standalone, the Bound series really must be read prior to reading this book. But to be real, you will be rereading the Bound books after this book just to tide you over for part II. This book made me fall in love all over again with the made men of the NY mafia!

I have only one thing to say about this book; it was CRINGEY AF. So damn cringey. The only reason I didn't rate it a 1/5 is because I genuinely loved Marcella but besides that, this was a nightmare to read.
Maddox can't be 25. I find it impossible to believe that any 25 year old would either think or talk the way he does. He was just like an overgrown baby. I couldn't with him.
Below are excerpts that made me cringe hard:
1. “I won’t release you for a quick fuck, no matter how fuckable you are. But nice try.”
2. “Maddox chuckled as if he could read at least part of my thoughts. “I want to cum all over your perfect body.”
“I’m not sure if I want to get whatever sexual diseases you have.”
“If I had any diseases, you would have gotten them through the pussy-tonguing you just had.”
3. “Fuck, Snow White, let me eat that royal pussy.”
4. “Riding my mouth with your pussy like a fucking rodeo rider was your choice, princess. Your cream on my tongue’s proof of that.”
5. “And more than that, a little voice, one I used to call my instinct, told me that Maddox was the guy I should lose it to.
Maddox chuckled as if he could read at least part of my thoughts. “I want to cum all over your perfect body.”
6. “Even in a tattered and bloody wife beater and my old boxer shorts, Snow White looked more regal than any queen on a throne of gold and diamonds ever could. She carried her invisible crown with unabashed pride. Fuck, this woman had been born to be a queen and she fucking owned that title.”
7. “Mad,” someone called. I didn’t recognize the voice in my lust-hazy brain. He rattled against the door, almost giving me a heart attack but Maddox didn’t release me. His face stayed between my legs.
“Fuck off, I’m eating out pussy,” Maddox shouted before he noisily sucked at my pussy lips.”
8. “Too much?” Maddox murmured, sucking my lower lip into his mouth. “Your pretty pussy just took my entire cock. You can take three fingers. It’ll be worth it, Snow White.”
9. “I still couldn’t believe I’d slept with Snow White, that I had popped her cherry.”
I'm sure there were more cringe moments but oh well! I also didn't like Aria in this book. She was weird. She seemed to detached and like a motivational speaker.

”Vitiellos don’t kneel.”
By Sin I Rise is the first installment of Sins of The Fathers and Part I of By Sin I Rise duet. And what a good way to start this series.
Marcella Vitiello is more than the typical spoiled rich girl. Living in a traditional world but with the freedom her father gives her, she can’t stop wishing for more. She has many dreams, one of them being find love like her parents have. Maddox saw his father and MC family being slaughtered by Luca Vitiello. Years wishing for a change for revenge, he and his MC finally find it through Luca’s daughter, Marcella.
This is the start of a forbidden romance. One that Maddox and Marcella have everything to lose and hardly anything to win. Revenge and knowing the enemy doesn’t stop them from falling for each other, the problem is their current situation and aftermath.
“It’s better to die standing up than to live on your knees, Snow White.”
To me, Maddox is the star of this book. He’s simply AMAZING. I love Remo/Cassio/Savio and thought it was hard to top them but Maddox came like a wrecking ball. I don’t want to give much details because of spoilers and the best part is to enter this without knowing him but he’s all I wanted him to be and more. Also, he’s quite unique, I can’t compare him to any of the previous male characters. I want to scream to the world how I need more of this man.
Marcella is a good protagonist too. She truly is Luca’s daughter and I admire her love for her dad and family. She’s the typical spoiled rich girl but not bratty (thank god), her dad truly made her a princess. I felt for her through the book but her growth was fantastic. She definitely came a long way and has more to give.
It was SO good to see Luca and Aria again and finally meet Amo older. I truly love Amo, these events really have an impact on him. Luca is just beyond this world. I was so sad for him but also so proud for the amazing dad he became. Aria is still the sweet girl we know but not fragile as everyone thinks.
The book being split in two, was a good choice. I often I’m against this because it’s not necessary but the first book is used to build them as characters and their relationship. There’s too much happening to them, so many things they need to figure out and overcome that having all in one book would be too much and the best is to not rush it or leave things unanswered. Give them what they deserve and the ending they should have.
By Sin I Rise: Part I is a rollercoaster and I couldn’t stop myself from feeling for these two. I truly hope they can find their happy ending soon. Despite ending in a cliffhanger that left me anxious for Part II, it’s more suspenseful than hurtful so it gave me a bit of peace.
Now, can By Sin I Rise: Part 2 come fast? Because Maddox White has my heart and soul and has me around his finger. I can’t stay this long without him.

I’m quite disappointed to be honest. The premise sounded right up my alley with Maddox kidnapping Marcella by getting revenge for Luca, who killed his father. I loved Marcella, she’s the star of the show 100 %. Also loved seeing Luca, Aria and Matteo again. But Maddox was just meh. Didn’t really care for him. He was just bland and dull. And them together wasn’t anything groundbreaking or anything like that, they’re just cute I guess.
I also don’t understand why Cora decided to split their story into two books when it could’ve easily been in one big book. I still wanna read the next part since I love this universe and characters <33

Beautiful story but I'm sad that Marci is not with Adamo. I really thought that they will be together haha. Marci is so strong just like her father. She won't bow down to anyone. Love this book couldn't wait for book 2
