Reading a Debbie Macomber book is like enjoying a good hug. You know things will end right, but there will be a lot of bumps along the way. In the first of her Rose Harbor series, she establishes a widow trying out her hand at being an bed and breakfast owner as the main character. The lives of her guests and their back stories are followed as well. Abby is avoiding demons from her past and handling guilt she just can't shake. Joshua is saying goodbye to an abusive stepfather and reconnecting with a childhood friend. Light and fun with a good narrator. I really enjoyed this audio book and found myself hanging out in the car pretty often for just one more track. Looking forward to the next in the series. (Cedar Cove characters make occasional appearances so this is great for people who miss hanging out in that world!)

Reading this lovely townsy romance was like wrapping up in a toasty blanket on a chilly morning.

Delightful and felt like the beginning of a series, many hanging narratives left for later exploration. I want to move to this town where folks are so welcoming and nice to newcomers.

A delightful literary cream puff executed with a practiced pen.

This book would be improved if it offered more bed and less breakfast.

A heart felt story of healing, life, death, past friendships and starting over. I liked Jo Marie Rose, a widow who moves to Cedar Cove to run a bed and breakfast (love this part as am a consultant for B&Bs, hotels, inns) and her first guests Josh and Abby are from the area and have not returned for many years due to many heartaches and bad memories. Slowly they both began their healing and characters you will come to love. (I also liked the West Palm Beach connection). I have stayed at some wonderful B&Bs in the Puget Sound area, so made for a nice read. I look forward to more in this series!

This book was just too vanilla for me. I disliked all the characters. They seemed a bit to unreal for my world. I gave this book two stars though. I can appreciate the author’s writing and story even though I won’t be picking any more of her books up. I’m sorry for those who like her but I need more angst and emotions in my books.

The Inn at Rose Harbor takes us back to Cedar Cove with a new heroine, Jo Marie, who buys a B & B after her husband is killed in Afghanistan. She is starting new, working through her grief and learning to love again. But the book doesn't just center around Jo Marie. There are several story lines surrounding her guests who stay at the inn. So with this new series, The Inn at Rose Harbor is the first book, the guests are the stars with the B & B the focal point. Now if you love the characters from the old Cedar Cove series don't fret, they make appearances through out the book, but they aren't central. They are brought in to give flavor and warmth to the book.

Macomber has begun another series that I think will be a huge hit. So sit back and enjoy the return to Cedar Cove. The inn is always open.
