The Rescue

Nicholas Sparks

Taylor is a small business owner and volunteer firefighter. He feels responsible for his father's death from a fire, but refuses to talk to anyone about it. Denise is a single mother to Kyle, a four year old who is speech delayed. Taylor rescues Denise when she wrecks her car in a bad storm, and then finds Kyle in the swamp after he ran away from the crash. Denise sees Taylor around town and against her better judgement begins a relationship with him. She likes the way he treats Kyle like he's just like any other little boy. Unfortunately, the relationship hits a roadblock when Taylor won't open up about his father. Can the couple get past this, and will Taylor ever open up?

After reading "The Rescue" by Nicholas Sparks, I can confidently say that this book is great for anyone who loves a good romance novel with a twist of suspense. Sparks never fails to deliver a story that captures the heart, and this novel is no exception.

Sweet, caring, and loyal volunteer firefighter Taylor McAden is on a mission to save lives, but life has a different plan for him when he meets Denise, a single mother struggling to make ends meet. The chemistry between these two characters is undeniable, and as the story progresses, we see a beautiful and heartfelt love story unfold before our eyes.

But what truly sets "The Rescue" apart from the rest of Sparks' books is the element of suspense. As Denise's son gets lost in the woods, Taylor's strength and expertise are put to the test, and the race to find the boy before it's too late keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

Sparks' writing style is nothing short of gripping, and his ability to evoke emotions in his readers is truly remarkable. From heartwarming moments of love and compassion to fear and terror in the face of danger, "The Rescue" is a rollercoaster ride of emotions that will leave a lasting impression on readers.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a well-written, romantic novel with an element of suspense, "The Rescue" is the perfect choice. Sparks' masterful storytelling abilities and relatable characters make this book a true gem in the world of romance and fiction. Highly recommended!

Love that this was inspired by his son Ryan who has Central Auditory Processing Disorder. Predictable but I am sucker for the way Nicholas Sparks executes a book. A little slow at some parts but I enjoyed it.

This was a really sweet story.

In parts it was slow for me, but I liked the story. It felt like a true story, which I know a lot of his books are based off true stories.

I particularly liked the end.

Knowing that Kyle was based on Nicholas Sparks's son Ryan made this book much more meaningful to me.
I'll admit, it's a bit tiring on the emotions reading this book, but I think it's definitely worth a read. It's rare that a book is ever strong enough to make me cry, and this one was one of the few that did it.

I was curious about Nicholas Sparks so I picked up a random book of his at Half Price Books. This was a mistake that I will never repeat.

This by far was my favorite Nick Sparks book that I have read. I enjoyed how the story unfolded. In the previous stories I read, I did not love how the story ended. In this one, I believed the ending. I didn't feel it was forced or sudden. I highly recommend this story!

This book warrants about a 2.5 primarily because it was written in 2001. Nicholas Sparks writes a much better story now. This book was predictable and rough around the edges. I think if I read it when it first came out I would have thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's so embarrassing that I keep reading those books I had to share - looking at you Marini. Really, not my fault the Manchester airport needs to update their reading selection...

The only thing I have to say is this:

After finishing this book, I decided that I hate Nicholas Sparks for writing predictable books that I always cry at the end of anyways.

His books are the ultimate in female romantic brain trash when you want something more cerebral and better written than a harlequin novel. The plot always contains some sort of heart-wrenching twist or turn that by the end of the book concludes itself in a way that I am convinced single-handedly keeps Kleenex in business.

This book is no different. Well written as far as these kinds of books go, definitely a page turner. Fast read... I blew through it in 3 days... and I have a 10 month old.

It's a great read if you're looking for something to use as escapism literature. Do not read this if you're trying to learn something or if you're trying to enrich your mind. Also don't read this - or any Sparks book - if you're heartless. :)
