Planning to incorporate his daily dozen foods as often as possible! Excellent Science backed info.
The best nonfiction “self help” book anyone could choose to read. If you’re interested in learning more about living a healthy life, give this book a read. So many interesting nutrition facts, told in an easy to digest manner without sounding condescending. The audiobook read by the author was particularly great. I highly encourage everyone to read this book.

This one took 6 months for me to listen to b/c it is SO informative and packed with so much information. I will confess because it has given me so much knowledge and perspective about food. As I age, I have become more aware, but this was an amazing way to look and think about food. He uses lots of evidence-based studies and research that makes it easy to understand the whys and hows of his recommendations or findings. By recommending this, I want to share my knowledge that you can become a more educated consumer of the different foods that are great for preventing, healing, and reversing the many ailments and diseases that surround us.
While the science might all be 100% true in credible studies, this book is maybe not for the average reader.
Verbose and very blind to issues of race, class, ableism and other factors that make his lessons more complicated.
I think I got most of the same lessons from Pollan’s food rules, but was simpler and less exacting.
That said, I am biased in the sense that I’m not too motivated to extend my life so, to each their own.

Although the author may cherry-pick some of the evidence based studies, the ideas here are urgent, helpful, and true. Plant-based eating improves health and is less harmful to the planet.
I enjoyed learning about the good qualities of awesome vegetables and fruits and got super excited about improving my diet by adding in more color and fun fruit and vegetables. However, I was frustrated by the severe alarmism and cherry-picked studies as well as fat phobia and sarcastic terms used for general Americans. I will definitely cut down on animal products and am excited to change my diet but wish he had refined his language and given a wider range of studies, not just ones that proved his points.
My doctor suggested I look into this book and follow the info on NutritionFacts.org to manage my health: so helpful to finally have a reference for unbiased nutrition research.
