This book serves as a great reminder that we weren't meant to be eating such a processed diet. He also has some great studies cited and information/resources for those trying to eat more whole foods. I also will always love a book advocating for a plant based diet.
Docking 1.5 stars because a lot of the information was repetitive; I think this book could have been 2/3 the size. Also, some of his stats seem super cherry picked and misleading.

This was the best book about nutrition I've read so far. Michael Greger is not only a phenomenal doctor with a passion for nutrition, he's also a talented author with a gift for explaining complex concepts. This book does an excellent job of giving an unbiased portrayal of modern research into nutrition while not directly advocating for a specific diet. He tells the facts and lets the reader do with them as they will. Every chapter gave me a WTF moment. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

Overall interesting, lots of information about the background of what good to eat and what illnesses you ‚fight‘ with it. In between it feels a bit to detailed, but it’s still a good read

This book as made me look at food like magic. Pop a berry for better memory, green leafy vegetables for all matters of immune health, citrus for better circulation, and turmeric to prevent many kinds of cancer.
It took 30 years of life for me to be as excited about a flax seed as my mom but this book made me hear what she was saying all those times she sneakily put flax seeds in my perfectly good pancakes.
I also have a completely different perception of consuming meat and already just in trying to eat less - I’m noticing how much I enjoy meals even if they don’t contain meat. I’m still not giving up my grandma’s feijoada though.
That said, that’s what I really liked about the book. Several times it’s noted that users should get the science and then make their own personal decisions from there. I am appreciative that there’s no “please buy this” or even “this is the specific diet you must follow to be most healthy” just - here are the benefits of eating nutrient rich foods, and here are the foods that promote oxidation in your body and damage your DNA.
I already have become a little annoying about this book. I suspect I will read it again just to absorb more of its contents but truly cannot recommend it enough.
