The story has a nice rhythm, and the illustrations are bright and eye-catching. I like that it introduces a new piece of clothing -- and a new Spanish word -- in an emotive way. I'm not great with my Spanish words, so I kind of wish they had put the pronunciation of rebozo at the beginning of the book (instead of at the end)... that way I wouldn't have worried or struggled.

Very fun book with some Spanish and filled with culture centered around the Mexican shawl and its many uses. It reminds me of Sheth's book My Dadima Wears a Sari and Robert's book The Swirling Hijaab as they also show many things one can do with a piece of cloth.

Imaginative tale about all of the things you can do with a rebozo, or Mexican shawl.

Adventurous, creative fun with the rebozo, and the warmly colorful art makes this a great read for storytime or laptime!

The girl's creativity with the rebozo means this would be excellent for a Summer Reading '09 book display and storytime.

This book didn't appeal to me, but I can't quite figure out why. The premise is promising and I appreciated how imaginative the main character is, but the story just felt flat to me.

A delightful read that dances on the page. The rebozo is almost a character by itself as it flows and wraps and twirls and covers. The story is in Spanish and English and can be used for many different purposes. It serves as a read-aloud on its own, but the creative element of the story, the rebozo being used in many different ways, opens up a discussion of how everyday objects can be transformed.
