Mainly this one felt like it was only just leading up to the next book. It was fun and enjoyable, but would have liked a bit more substance.

I found this slightly dragging compared to the first two books... it took me much longer to finish in fact. I think it was all the lovey-dovey between Jamie and Veronica and Duncan and Kenna. I get that they're soulmates and they're in love, but do I really need to be reminded every two paragraphs? I also feel that somehow Vee and Kenna are losing some of their identity.

I expected the premise of the book - them being stuck in Alloway - to take a larger chunk of the story, not merely a couple of chapters. I did love that cliffhanger though and definite need to read book 4!

Even though it took me a really long time to get through this book. I finally forced myself to sit down and read it. All I have to say is I am SOOOOOOO thankful my sister has the next book.

I can't even justify myself reading this, except my inner big ol' sucker for fairytales, and a hopeless romantic wants to devour more of the hopeful, the naïve, and the sentimental. Doon is the most typical of the most banal fairytales where nothing whatsoever happens as it would in real life, and that's the beauty of it, because all of us need more of "good overcomes evil", "have faith", and "they lived happily ever after" in our lives.

What can I say, I love this series! So many swoony moments, Jamie & Duncan are some of my favorite guy characters (Vee & Kenna are very lucky). There is quite a bit of action as well, for some reason I thought this was the last book, so the end was surprising. Definitely some twists & tense moments. Can't wait for the next book!

This is a go to series of mine for swoony/sweet/a little steamy romance to get lost in. Plus there is action too! This is a lot cleaner than most YA books, which is probably why I love it. Great tension ;)

Vee and Kenna find themselves thrust out of Doon. Jamie and Duncan come to their rescue. When they get back, they learn that the Witch of Doon has returned and is hiding. When the witch tries to over throw the kingdom, the four work to save Doon's citizens.

Shades of Doon is yet another entertaining installment in the magical Doon series by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon. In this book, our heroines face even more challenges as they try to settle in and find a sense of belonging in their new kingdom and home. All is still not well in Doon, the wicked witch of Doon becoming more aggressive in her plot to overtake the throne. Veronica, who is queen of Doon, finds herself having to step up to make life or death decisions and Mackenna must decide where her heart lies, whether in Doon or in the modern world. Together Veronica and Mackenna, along with their handsome princes, must band together and save Doon once and for all.

I really enjoyed Shades of Doon and so far it’s my favorite book in the series. With the alternating viewpoints between Veronica and Mackenna, and especially that epilogue, I am immersed with both of these girls. They’re fun, down-to-earth, and lovable. I enjoyed both of the princes, as well. (Who could resist hunky and heroic princes, anyway?)

There is only one more book left and then it’s goodbye to Doon! I have high hopes for the next book and hopefully we’ll get a happily ever after, maybe.

Do you enjoy magical kingdoms, quirky young ladies, dashing Scottish princes, and evil witches? If you do then maybe you should read the Doon series, starting with Doon, Destined for Doon, and then Shades of Doon!
