The Lovely: I love these characters and their relationship so much. Sorin and Scarlett are coming from such different places and both have to fight for their relationship. Scarlett has so much growing to do, with Sorin’s support, which is beautiful to watch. I also loved Scarlett’s relationship with the rest of Sorin’s Inner Court, especially Cyrus. So much fun but also so much friendship. This series has some of my favorite found family.
Recommendation: This was a comfort read for me - something I read when I’m stressed/anxious/unfocused. I find it comforting and calming. Scarlett gives off Aelin but darker vibes - just replace “Aelin, no” with “Scarlett, no”. But to me Scarlett is much more multi-dimensional than Aelin. I’ll never tired of reading this series. If you like a dark romantasy with beautiful and heart-wrenching relationships, I think you would like this series.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVED this book. But there are sooooo many blatant ACOMAF rip offs. Since that's my favorite ACOTAR book it wasn't really a problem for me but I'm honestly surprised Maas didn't sue over this.

To name a few:
Spoiler
Being whisked away to a city with gorgeous mountains, set on a river, where all the restaurants are heated and everyone greets the prince and they go out to dinner and she relishes how normal everything is (and next time he's going to take her to the artist's quarter...)
An extremely casual family-like inner court of two males and a female where one of the males is the spymaster and the female is a badass warrior with great fashion sense
FMC needing to learn to use her magic that she never had before/adjust to being fae
A mountain cabin surrounded by wards and snow where people go to brood
Hidden mate bond that everyone knows about except for her
Visiting creepy magical beings in a magical prison and making a bargain
Spending time in the library researching ancient magical things people can't figure out
A moody prince who wants her back and is potentially going to ruin anything because she left him

I did not seeeee that cliff hanger!
adventurous challenging dark mysterious medium-paced

The ending!!!!

Please please don't break my heart in the next book.

I just need this series to have a happy ending

I am desperately waiting for Scarlett’s character growth. I am enjoying this series. Though I don’t know if I can make it through more books of her annoying, hypocritical behavior if it does not change.
