3/5
- I gave book 1 and book 2, 4 and 5 stars respectively; I LOVE those books
- This was ... ehhhh
- Very slow building of the odd connection of Gwen and wolfhunter river ... a stranger’s plea for help?? GIRL you’ve got enough things on your plate!? Idk
- picks up around 66%
- the reveals about Sam ... listen I took those personally
- a running theme of the series is how people and the media sensationalize true crime and the extents of the dark web which I enjoyed but those themes weren’t nearly as prevalent as they are in the earlier books
- Here the focus travelled back to the accusations that Gwen was her husband’s accomplice ... a knowing and subordinate woman facilitating his crimes ... and CULTS; which was interesting but really only came about closer to the end
- honestly all the waiting was kind of worth it because the last 20% was damn chilling
- a lukewarm ending to this trilogy (?)

This is book 3 of this series. I Love the Stillhouse Lake Series! The writing style of this author is always perfect to me and the narrators of the audiobook are also great! This series would be a perfect summer read!

4/5.

I really enjoyed this. The beginning had some pacing issues but once the story picked up, I couldn't put it down. I'm interested to see what the next book has in store.

Enjoyable

This was an enjoyable read. I guessed the culprits but like she always can, Caine keeps you guessing about the how and that was nicely done. I am routing for Sam and Gwen. I sure hope the next book allows me some satisfaction. Hahahaha.

After finishing book 2, I didn’t know how there would really be anymore storyline to continue into a third book - but MAN this book was as wild of a ride as the last 2. Also I am finding myself finishing it at 2 in the morning… again.

I am a big fan of the Proctor/Cade clan and it was both fun and stressful to try and piece together the mysterious events of Wolfhunter River alongside them — and also who to TRUST. I can confidently say I’d never want to live in a place like Wolfhunter River and I did not anticipate what was really going on there.

I am eager to read the next installment in this series as I’m sure it’ll be just as intense.

I will admit that I couldn’t give it a full 5 stars because the beginning of the book was honestly a little slow, but also, there were a few plot points that I feel may have been forgotten in the midst of the chaos. Would love to chat with someone who has read it to see if they agree!

Not as good at the first two. First 1/3 of the book was very boring and took me ages to get through it. I will give the next one a try, as I have purchased it. I just might read something else to break it up.

This is the third book in this series, and this one is better than the second one, although not as good as the first one, in my opinion. For some reason, this book also seemed much shorter than the previous ones. It is not a good or bad thing, it is just observation.

This is the first book in the series not entirely centered around the situation of Gwen and her ex-husband. And I think it's a very good idea. We do not forget about what is happening in Gwen's life, but we see other possibilities of using this group of characters. This allows for a much greater variety, because ultimately how much can be taken from the idea of the ex-wife of a serial killer. I have no problem going back to this topic, but it's nice to see something else.

Compared to the previous book, it seems to me that the author has finally embraced writing from multiple perspectives. I still don't like it because I generally don't like such a narrative, but it's a lot less chaotic than in the second book. Or maybe it's just a matter of the perspective of Lana and Connor appearing much less frequently, which in the previous book annoyed me more than often. Though I still believe that the old-fashioned third-person narrative would easily solve the problem.

The plot is very good and suspenseful, if you like a lot of action you won't be disappointed. This book has perhaps the most amount of shooting scenes out of all three books, lol. A few people are killed whose death I did not expect, but I want to reassure you that it is no one we liked from the previous books, so you can read without fear. I also like that Sam plays a bigger role in this story than before. Plus, there's less of a plot about Gwen's kids and their dramas, which I personally like because I don't usually like too much children or teenagers in my books. Although it's not that these threads are completely absent, but I didn't have to listen to Lana's love dilemmas from her perspective anymore, and I definitely appreciate that.

All in all, this is a very solid third book in this successful series. I definitely want more. I also feel that I am becoming more and more familiar with these characters and probably after the fifth book it will be difficult for me to abandon them.

No surprise this book was so good. It was the first to kind of step away from the torment of Melvin Royal, although not completely,  and I am excited.

They are helping out this mother and daughter who are caught up in this big mess and are being hunted.

There are a lot of missing women and a little girl. So they are trying to find who has them. It was fast-paced as always and thrilling.

I can't wait to read the next one!

I LOVED Stillhouse Lake. I mean, really loved it, super excited when the sequel came out, why isn't this more popular kind of love. Killman Creek, the sequel, was still good, and I enjoyed it. However, Wolfhunter River just didn't do it for me. It felt like a trilogy that didn't really need to be a trilogy. The outlandish acts taking place in this tiny town seemed much too numerous considering the size of the actual town, and Gwen's bad ass "i'm gonna kill you" attitude started to grate. I understand why she is that way, but she's become one dimensional and stagnant. Her relationship with Sam has become the same way - not really progressing. There were a lot of things that could have been included in the book, such as more on the Lost Angels organization, Sam and Miranda's past, and some other things I don't want to spoil, but were extremely significant but rushed in the end. Based on some of the passages in the book, it's entirely possible that there will be another Stillhouse Lake book, and I'll definitely check it out, but I'm hoping for more this time around.
