Meh. This wasn't very good. I got bored. Found the MMC and his trauma annoying. Not sure if I will continue series.

I have mixed feelings about this book. When I started reading the Alpha Pack series, I instantly fell in love with the characters, their mission and the exciting plots that captured my attention in each story. After the third book, I noticed the dynamics of the story starting to change. The fourth and fifth books were not as enjoyable as the previous ones.

My interest began waning with the introduction of vampires into the series. Don’t get me wrong, I love vampires and I enjoy the new characters but something was changed for me. The stories were pretty much forgotten and I was very saddened by that.

I felt a little bit of that magic as I read WOLF’S FALL. I thought the plot was good and I loved the introduction of new characters but what kept me from really loving this book was that I felt things were wrapped up too quickly or completely glossed over without adequate explanation or satisfaction. I can’t give examples without revealing spoilers so I apologize for my overt vagueness.

What really drove me crazy were all the questions I have now that the book is over. Whether it was accidental or done purposely to draw out the mystery, I’ll never know. Yes, I had some issues with the story, but I am also chomping at the bit for more! What a clever, clever author you are J.D. Tyler. I’m looking forward to what you have in store for the boys of Alpha Pack.

I'd been looking forward to Nick's story because I loved his character. But he seemed almost wimpy in this book. And I never did grow to like Calla. She was flat and cardboard. There was plenty of action, but it seemed to repeat itself. However, I WAS surprised that Tyler would go as far as she did with the climactic scene.

Big fans of the series will enjoy this one, but it wasn't my favorite.

I'm still pretty new to the Alpha Pack series but I'm absolutely loving it. I do recommend reading book five in the series because it provides needed background for Nick's plight, I would not consider Wolf's Fall a stand-alone. Nick may be the leader of Alpha Pack, an elite group of paranormal warriors, but he's feeling not only his years but he cannot forget the torture he was submitted to while held in captivity. So much so that when he encounters his bondmate, Calla, he does not know if he can even bond with her because he cannot stand the thought of a vampire sinking their teeth in to him. Calla was blessed to find a mate and after his death she never thought she'd be able to open up to love again but the sparks she feels with just one touch leads her to believe she can find happiness again. Except Nick is going to fight their bond every step of the way even with danger chasing them both. As threat after threat chase Nick and Calla through both their homes they fight not only for the lives of their people but for a second chance at love. Another great read in the series that makes me want to go back and tackle the first books in the series. Fun read!

JD Tyler’s Wolf’s Fall continues her Alpha Pack series with the story of Alpha Pack Commander Nick Westfall and Vampire Princess Calla Shaw. Although I would highly recommend reading the rest of the series because they are well-written romance paranormal books she does provide enough of a backstory that you are not lost. Calla and Nick have been attracted to each other since they first met but circumstances have kept them apart until they have to work together to defend an evil force bigger than both of them.

Nick has been a favorite of mine since the beginning, and it was interesting to see him meet his match in the strong-willed Calla. Both have experienced loss in the past which led to their own personal issues they had to work through separately, which makes their coupling more poignant. As always, there was an element of danger and suspense that kept the story moving and provided a good backdrop. The additional suspense is one of the aspects I love about JD Tyler’s series, I have had no complaints thus far, but this book left me unsatisfied. The romance wrapped up in an HEA but the underlying storyline left me hanging and checking my kindle to make sure I didn’t miss something. All in all it was a good book, and I would highly recommend it, but there was just something missing that left me wanting more.

First Thought when Finished: Huge fan of Nick and Calla as a couple in Wolf's Fall.

Quick thoughts: Nick and Calla were not a couple I "saw" together. His Vamp issues made me unsure how it was going to work. However, the romance and understanding between the couple worked out splendidly! I admit this was probably the most emotional romance in the series for me and might even be my favorite. The story surround Nick and Calla was also strong. Lots of action! Lots of intrigue! Lots of wolves, vampires, and yes those damn hunters. I really dig this series. It just seems to fit what I look for in a PNR Military type of romance. I can't wait till the next one.

Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Marguerite Gavin / Length: 7 hrs and 12 mins

Marguerite is one my favorite narrators. I wasn't sure how I would like her taking over the series from another one of my favorites: Kirsten Potter. She has a strong sense of story though and that shows in her performance. She did a great job! I did miss some of the voices I have to come to love but Marguerite pulled them off! As long as she (or Kirsten) are doing this series, I will be listening to them! I am glad I took the chance!
