So far the only character I liked is
the woman in the bar who was sexually harassed and then painted as the villain for not being interested
. All of the other characters are obnoxious and full of themselves.

Another very good entry in this serious, with top notch humor and the usual unpredictable acts by the characters we have come to love. I could give you a more comprehensive evaluation of the book, but that would be a Long, Story :)

I was hoping this would tap into some of the stuff that makes Carl Hiaasen so enjoyable--Florida, crime, eccentric characters. It certainly has all three of those things but it is just way to ramped up in its own hyper-activity and outlandishness for me. It has a few scenes that made me laugh but mostly it just felt like silly, stream of consciousness while trying to be as all over the map as possible. I will not be making another trip with Dorsey's main recurring character Serge. Once is enough.

Frickin' funny. This book is remenicent of Hiaasen but with an acid trip twist. Serge Storms, Florida lover, vigilante serial killer. Some of the most creative killings I have ever read. Unfortunately I started with this book (Florida Roadkill is Serge #1) and missed out on some background. Well worth the effort.

My rating might change after I read the first ten, haha. I picked up this book randomly at a used book store and cracked it open for a quick read. It far exceeding my expectations so now I want to go back and read the first book since the early ones are usually the best in something so serialized.

There's a lot of Florida history I've never scratched the surface of... and a lot of sadistically convoluted ways to murder people that mankind has yet to explore. As the anti-hero, Serge, educates us about different nuggets of Floridian trivia, it starts to feel like the fucked-up version of Patrick Smith's A Land Remembered, a historical novel we read in my Florida high school.

I will never tire of Serge! Seriously these are my favorite books and it's always a treat to read a new one and see what Serge is up to. He definitely has the most create ways of killing people. Reading this book is like a a carnival midway for the mind-loud noises, bright lights and gum stuck to your shoes.
