This book gave me the most bittersweet feeling ever. When I started reading the story I felt joy in my heart, the kind you feel when you remember those happy moments of your childhood... but then I kept reading and the more I read the saddest I felt. Everything connects so much with human behavior in the sense of how we take everything and never give back, we are so selfish and we just one to be happy but never think about how others feel about what we do.
I do reccomend this book but ugh, too sad for my sensitive self.

This was fine. A boy and a tree both turn into old stumps.

I really enjoyed this book. It is so cute and teaches a great lesson. The book has few words on most pages which is enticing to young readers. I would recommend this book to a lot of people.

it's a very very very sad book. the tree is a loyal and dependable friend. she gives the boy unconditional love. she always looks so happy when playing with the boy. she is always willing to give the boy a hand when he needs something. and the sad part is this boy takes her love and existence for granted :')

The most heartwarming, and poignant children's book.

For some reason I was under the impression that this was a famous piece of writing with profound depth and social commentary. But nope, it's just a 300 word kids book.

I had long heard about this book, it rests in the periphery of adult life. Every adult seems to have read it and have fond memories. It has far-reaching influences. Slightly poetic, immensely profound. As a modern-day product of my time, I see not only the environmental element but also elements of female self-sacrifice and constant devotion. I enjoyed it. Brief, well-written, and refreshing. Enlightened and insightful without being too preachy.
